Re: Wildland Firefighters Knife

TL;DR The conversation here is interesting and the idea is great but it's being overthought. Here's my suggestion: Spyderco x Wildland Firefighter Foundation This is based on on the following. 1. (8) seasons as a wildland firefighter 1 . 2. Carrying a Native FRN PE from 2003-2010. 3. Spyderco has a...

Nope, just get a Bark River, they all have convex grinds.

Re: Seconds Sale.

@PikesPeaker suggest you change the topic title to "2019 Seconds Sale" for posterity. I got there around 1300 and was shopping around 1400. Spent about 1.5 hours inside and found one of the ones I was looking for. Overall, I felt like I saw fewer sprints this year than in years past. IMG_2...

Re: Spyderco for firefighter

I used a Native for wildland firefighting where weight was more of a concern than "hard use". The discontinued Never Summer/National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Native seems like an obvious option and can be found on eBay...

Re: Para 3 Lefty?

It seems like the Para 3 is popular enough to justify a Left Hand model in black S30V. I would certainly buy one after trying the right hand version, which I like better than the Para 2.

Yellow FRN & LC200N sounds great to me. I think it would make a nice lightweight backpacking/camping utility knife.

Drop Point vs. Leaf Shape (UKPK)

Sal has mentioned that "the market seems to prefer leaf blades" , but I thought it would be informative/interesting to see what this market thinks. I'm specifically thinking of the UKPK, but feel free to comment on other models. It would be nice if every version of the UKPK came in both sh...

Re: Uk Penknife Maxamet?

Gray FRN & Maxamet sounds good to me. If it's G10, then I hope it uses the current split spring NOT the older full length spring. There has been a lot of interest in bringing back a G10 version, but the older full length spring makes it very difficult to change the clip and/or reassemble . I pre...

Sounds good to me, especially with peel-ply carbon fiber AND the current split spring NOT the older full length spring. There has been a lot of interest in bringing back a G10 version, but the older full length spring makes it very difficult to change the clip and/or reassemble . I prefer the FRN UK...

Hi Foofie,

We're working on a Salt version. Heat treating the spring is challenging. What is it you (or others) would like to see?

sal

I think a yellow FRN version would make a nice lightweight backpacking/camping utility knife. Preferably in LC200N.

Re: New? Immerse!

Good advice Sal. For me, this will be the Para 3. As a lefty, the Para series has historically not been a good fit. I've tried the Para 2 Left Hand, but as good as it feels, it's still in that 3.5" anti-goldilocks zone for me where I'd rather carry something larger like the Military or the Poli...

Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale 2018!

Thanks for another Seconds Sale Spyderco! This was my fourth one and overall I found what I was looking for (Natives, UKPKs) along with several surprises. I arrived later than in the past (1430), but the line was inside the door at about the reception desk and it took about 1h30m to get in to the sa...
