Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
I own several variants of the Delica...some I've never carried like my blue 3rd generation SE, but I've carried my CruWear Delica a decent bit as the smaller knife (And more recently a K390 Delica 4 SE), but I find the hawkbill with serrations to be very good for certain tasks when at work. I'm ...

Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
I don't need the size comparisons...I still own a Chaparral (Had 3 at one point), and the Dragonfly is a bit too small for me (Still own 4 I think), and that's without gloves on (I almost want to say the Caly Jr. is what I would want the Dragonfly to be, but that's bias because it fits my hand a lot ...

Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
I have a Dodo (Orange G-10 S30V)...bought it on vacation so I'd have a Spyderco to carry, and then mailed it home before flying home...done that trick a few times to have a Spyderco with me. I've carried it at work a few times and there are a lot of things I love about it, and a few things I don't ...

Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
A hawkbill Chapparal with a compression lock, even with a shallower hawkbill to fit the handle I think would work...I don't think shallowing out the hawkbill in this use scenario would have much if any real detriment, serrated I think would be ideal, 3V or another steel ideally tougher than CruWear ...

Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
I'm 37 now, and I've tried a lot of different combinations over the last 20+ years. CruWear is my favourite steel for my main work folder (I'd say CTS 204P is my favourite stainless for the winter months here, though CruWear holds up decently well to corrosion). My Maxamet Manix 2 LW's rust pits can ...

Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
I should further clarify...I'm not talking about replacing a consumable blade knife...they'll always have their purpose and use...I'm talking more about a second smaller folder (I frequently carry two when I'm at work...my favourite second right now for cutting zip ties and such is my Tasman Salt SE ...

Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
This question is more specifically aimed at my fellow Spyderco users that work construction, and more importantly, use their knives on the job on a daily or near daily basis, but obviously if anyone that doesn't work construction has something to contribute, feel free to chime in...more discussion ...

Re: Salty Dodo
I've carried my Orange Dodo at work a few times and it's really good at a lot of things, but I prefer a Military 2 or PM2 (Or Manix 2), having said that, a SE Dodo in H1 or any of the other "Salty" steels would be something I would need to have as a backup for CruWear PE knives (They tend to be my ...

Cruwear Military 2 Micarta (Got it yesterday)...No picture yet (I'll try to snag one). Absolutely loving it, and it will be my go-to for the next while.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
It's been a while since I've posted anything...but lately it's been my orange peel titanium Gayle Bradley. I still slightly prefer CruWear to M4 though...and my SuperBlue Ladybug still lives on the keychain for my ZR2, and my grey G-10 Jester still lives on the keychain for my 350Z, so one of those ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Tested out my new Police4 at work today for the first time...the platform is excellent thus far for use on a construction site with and without gloves. I'll need at least a few weeks to evaluate the steel though. It'll have a hard time dethroning CruWear for my uses and I don't see my CruWear Millie ...

Re: RN or CF Chaparral?
I'd ask your dealer to send you pictures of the RF Chaps in their inventory. It looks awesome, especially if you get a good one. I had a CF Chap (I ended up trading it for another Spydie) and the texture is a little grippier, but I think the ergonomics are more than enough to allow for enough ...

Zombie thread alert (More than 3 years old at this point)...not sure if that qualifies as full zombie or not, but I thought I'd point it out as people are now responding to it the same way as if it were fresh.

Re: Maxamet toughness
It's definitely tougher and less chip prone than ZDP-189. I find it less chip prone than M4 as well.

Re: Becoming a blade junkie...
I started out as a user and am now a bit of a user and a collector. I have a few knives, like my Kris for example, that are way too rare and awesome to actually use for anything but are super cool to own and fondle occasionally. Also I can't imagine trying to properly sharpen that one if I did use ...

Re: How good is maxamet steel for edc?
I loaned my Maxamet M2 to the manager of my local B&M because he's better than I am at sharpening and he has a taste for more expensive knives than I do, but is still a strong Spyderco fan (And I value his inputs as he's tried a lot more things that I have). He was absolutely flabbergasted at the ...

Re: Maxamet toughness
I've been pleasantly surprised with the toughness of Maxamet (I wasn't expecting much from a high carbide steel in the ~70 Hrc range regarding toughness). I recently was cutting some heavy duty zip ties and when the knife broke through them it slapped edge first against a fence chain...this happened ...

Re: How good is maxamet steel for edc?
I've had my Maxamet Manix 2 since they dropped...had it pre-ordered actually. I've seen lots of requests for feedback regarding it, but I haven't really had all that much to say for a number of reasons. I've used it quite extensively since I got it, but it didn't need to be sharpened yet so I held ...

Re: Show your knife and your ride!
Thanks man...it's a fun car. Lots of cubbie holes to stash various Spydies in. Now I just need to remember where I stashed my unused Spyderco stickers so I can get one on the back window.MarcoCB wrote:3rdGenRigger, congratulations I love the Nissan 350
