Re: Anyone else strop there folders?
All of my knives get the strop. After sharpening and in between to keep them happy.

Re: Sal, hope to hear from you
Anxiously I am awaiting Sal's reply to this obvious design flaw. The horns of this dilemma seem rather sharp.

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
Hi, Watched this video from Apostle P (Rob) describing in more detail washer/bearing issues that he & others have been encountering as the Advocate is being deployed/flipped more. As I stated earlier within the comments, mine wasn't nearly as worn as his is. He'll be placing a call into Spyderc...

Re: Oiling the bearings in my Domino.
Mineral oil has high surface tension and is sticky as all ****, collects pocket lint like crazy. Some of the other less viscous lubes do not last very long. You can use molybdenum grease and get the best results. Depending upon your knife usage and how often you get the knife wet or submerged or nec...

Re: How do you use the Ultra Fine?
I clean the rods with Barkeepers Friend and a scouring pad. I'll second that. It's the only way to clean ceramic rods. Can't find any barkeeper here. So I use pencil eraser to rub and take it off, most of it will be gone, though not 100% You can probably use Comet or any other "scouring" ...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
Many of us buy knives solely as users and have no interest in collecting or aesthetics. I've never used a grind that cut better than a full flat grind, and given the choice I will always buy FFG over any sort of hollow or saber grind. I buy Spyderco because they prioritize function over appearance....

Re: Anyone else excited for the new police model
I only wish it had the old school blade shape Yea, me too. I like the G10 scales but taking away its identity by changing the blade geometry to a flat grind and then substituting VG-10 with tool steel ?????? I'll attempt to keep an open mind until I see one but I would hardly call this a Police Mod...

Re: Best way to take care of M4?
The reason we oil our blades besides attempting to make the pivot point jet that blade out, is to provide a protective barrier between the air and moisture from the steel. When the air contains enough moisture, you get rust if we don't coat a carbon steel blade. The same can be said for stainless st...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
According to Gayle Bradley the scales are not as contoured as his which has a lot to do with time and cost than anything else. It had a little thicker grind than the custom and the overstop/ steel lock insert. But all and all a great copy of the original design. O ya obviously the spyderco hole as ...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
To the original topic, I've had mine for a while now, and must say that FOR ME, it is just about ideal. Smooth opening, rock solid lock up, and I love the blade shape. Nice and slender in the pocket, and comfortable in my hand. The only thing that is yet to be determined, is the M4 steel. I've neve...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
Zero listen dude 50 count them 50 models for you to chose from. a lot of them are new and different as well as old models. If you don't like those choices move on. You just follow along Jr., don't get in the way. You're not relevant or constructive to this conversation at this point so maybe you ne...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
I'd argue that maybe spyderco earned a base with the likes of the Endura, police, and delica. They became really popular because of the military and pm2. Because they work. Not because they're simply pretty. Though what I may find pleasing to my eye is different than you. I look and say, man, that ...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
[quote="zeroed4x" I'm glad there are people out there who appreciate flat ground blades, they have their place but I don't believe that every single Spyderco knife that is currently being offered needs to be flat ground. There are too many flat ground offerings from Spyderco. Sal has fors...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
So you say you're a collector. You say true collectors want hollow and saber ground knives. You say full flat grinds offer only utility and/or ease of cutting through newspaper. You say that people who find the utility of flat ground blades preferable over the aesthetics of hollow or saber ground b...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
a) buy what you like b) don't buy what you don't like Obviously [quote="hoimin" Why is Sal being targeted directly with your ire? This is a custom collaboration that is faithful to the maker's design intent, accounting for production contraints. There is no personal vendetta against non-F...
