Re: Covid-19 vaccination starting (UK)

It’s interesting how people seem to have been having so many different experiences with the vaccine. I remember seeing a news report interviewing a couple of different elderly people who had zero side effects from whichever vaccine they’d received (after both doses), and were actually concerned tha...

Re: Covid-19 vaccination starting (UK)

I had zero side effects from my first shot (Pfizer). it was the second one that knocked me on my butt. Hopefully you are good through both. :)

Re: Show your Mule

Every last one of them looks great. I don't know if I'd want a Mule anymore, as I couldn't make it look anywhere near that good! Sure you could. :) It just takes some practice. If you try it out, you might be surprised how fast you are able to pick it up and make things you never thought you could.

Re: Cancel Culture??

Keep in mind that the seemingly detrimental effects of social media are not accidental. There’s plenty of data that shows if we’re consistently shown content/news/updates that outrages us, we spend more time on social media. More time spent equals more advertising seen. There’s a bottom line incent...

Re: Wood for scales

I did some general testing with a toaster oven and a scale. I don't have a way to measure moisture down that low, so I'm just weighing and looking for the point at which the wood stops losing weight. With oak and maple I'm seeing diminishing returns around 4 hours in a standard toaster oven and down...

Re: Which Itty Bitty?

I've had an H1 LB HB in my pocket virtually every day for years now. Still, if I could only have one, I think it would be the K390 variant. I have the ZDP and I love it, as well.

Tough choice.

Re: Spyderco employee EDC video

I also gift a lot of stuff with my logo on it (including knives). Mostly they are one offs for a specific person, but I've had multiples done a couple times (I did a bunch of UKPKs at once, to give to people, for example). A lot of the retailers who offer the service will actually be open to negotia...

Re: Steel Poll - What new steel would you like to try/test on a Spyderco Mule Team knife

Magnacut. :) I'd buy any of the steels in the poll. I don't know that I'll like m398 any better than m390 (I suspect I will like m390 better) but that's the whole point of a mule--to try out new steels and compare them. I'd love to see Spyderco give us some Rex 121 to test. I don't have an apples-to...

Had no clue spyderco did engraving, would love to customize my stretch :)
You can get knives engraved by a lot of retailers, or just aftermarket. I've had them done by retailers, but also by my local trophy shop.

Re: I wanna get a chaparral where should i buy

Got mine from KnivesShipFree, always a good experience dealing with them. I think ill be getting mine from there I've been very happy with KSF. I've even had some unusual requests (finding a sheath that would fit a paring knife, for example, so I could put it in my travel bag) that they've come thr...

Re: Cancel Culture??

I think our system has a built in incentive to overdramatize everything. Politicians mobilize their 'base' supporters by casting everything as an epic battle between good and evil, and every election as 'the most important election ever.' It creates a cycle of increasing dramatization that works to ...

Re: Covid-19 vaccination starting (UK)

I suspect you are right on most of that and like you, I don’t have an issue with letting the free market sort itself out. I doubt that is how it will go down though. Once someone starts to try to provide the needed goods and services to a marginalized sector of the population then a central power w...

Re: Spyderco shopping on Amazon - experiences

I won't buy Spyderco knives off Amazon. Amazon commingles inventory, so someone could easily buy the real one and then 'return' a fake in the box. Even Amazon themselves wouldn't know.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Nice Guardian3! Be careful, you'll end up with a whole stable of them. At this point I have that knife in Cruwear, 3v, M390 (wharnie and regular), v4e (wharnie and regular)..there might be a couple more. The only steel I know of that I don't have is N690. I've actually thought about picking one of t...

Re: Cancel Culture??

I think the divisiveness of the last 5 years or so has turned a lot of people off to the big parties. In addition to the friend I mentioned earlier, I have another friend who is a lifelong 'liberal' but is increasingly turned off by the (anti) free speech positions of his historically preferred part...
