Re: Family friendly jokes

I had a malfunction on my first jump, but the only way I was aware of it was that I looked up. Dang. That's terrifying. I've met some people who had malfunctions on their first jump, but it's very rare. I think my first malfunction requiring reserve activation was around 1500 skydives. On your firs...

Re: Manix 2 LW

Thanks! The 'outlet' section of the Fallkniven website definitely has some great deals. Much appreciated. :)

Re: Manix 2 LW

The second knife is twice as cheap as the Manix, it is perfectly made, the steel is of a similar level to that of the Spyderc. Is that the Fallkniven PCx? If, so in the USA it is more expensive than the Manix 2 LW. PCx ($144.99): https://www.dlttrading.com/fallkniven-pcx-folding-knife Manix 2 LW ($...

Re: Manix 2 LW

You can probably get serrations cut after market. I had some done on a CruWear manix several years ago, but I can't find that service on the website of the people who did it for me anymore.

Re: Spydies Good For Game Processing

Current production models? Or any Spyderco?

I'd say the South Fork and Sprig are both pretty good choices.

Re: SOLGW M4 76 13.7 #2

6mm ARC is very impressive. I wish there was better availability of cheap practice ammo. I am shooting 6.5G because the practice ammo is so much cheaper than 6mm ARC.

It’s not my Rock Jumper, but I took my Tenacious LW with me on my bike ride this morning and it did fantastic as a pruning knife.
Where do you live?

That looks a lot like a place I used to ride near Vacaville.

Why don't blind people go skydiving? I actually have a blind friend who has made several hundred skydives. :smiling-halo He said the most important thing he has learned is 'have three radios, because when the back up goes out, you have to have another one.' That would be important because he wouldn...

Re: Flashlights

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good flashlight with a flat shape? I have a lot of issues with round flashlights for EDC, and vastly prefer something flatter. I am currently carrying an Olight Arkfeld, but the laser feature is totally useless to me. I'd prefer something with a choice of whit...

Re: Military 2 (PRE-ORDER) posted on KnifeCenter $196

If you want a Military 2 in some other steel, the sales of this base model need to justify it.

I think this would be a good 'crucarta' model, and I'm neither a big military guy nor a big crucarta guy.

Magnacut Military 2, on the other hand...

Re: Stuck screw

Is the screw captive in the optic? If it's not, I'd swap it out for something else. I've had a lot of bad luck with harbor freight tools (and I buy _a lot_ of stuff there--just not tools). I bought a nice PB Swiss set and haven't looked back. I know a lot of folks that love the Wiha ones, but PB Swi...

Re: I'm having a Multitool midlife crisis

I have a Gerber that I'm quite happy with. I selected it because it was the only multitool I could find without a blade (I do a lot of carry-on only travel), though, so I'm not sure it will help your cause any, since my criteria is totally different from yours.

Re: Spyderco hardware origin.

Are you sure that all the hardware comes from the same source? I've noticed a variance in hardware quality over time, which might be because Spyderco is trying to source the correct size fasteners despite disrupted supply chains. I'm not at all convinced that the hardware all comes from the same sou...

Re: New Backpack

Do you have the zippered Sea to Summit, or the rolltop (the one that's advertised as waterproof)? Zippered one that packs down to half a toilet paper roll in size. :) I have both, and I prefer the zippered one. The roll top is more waterproof, but I find it's not worth the additional size (packed d...

Got a couple other shots of the latest Mule I made. It was supposed to be for someone but the guy desisted, I hate to have to try and sell something ! It's not in my nature to sell stuff... Hard when you're starting to make knives, folder scales or mule handles That's beautiful. I'd definitely keep...
