Re: Hap40 Wharnie D'fly

The more I look at this thread, the more I'm dreaming of a wharnie Dfly in Hap40 or K390.

ZDP-189 might be more achievable though, and it would be equally awesome.

Re: Spyderco: Your factory edges are sharp!

Spyderco and Mora are about the only two manufacturers I've encountered, that have high quality, refined edges straight out of the box. My Moras have all come very well sharpened. I think that's part of their mass market appeal. My Spyderco's have been a bit less consistent. I think a lot depends o...

Re: Spyderco: Your factory edges are sharp!

While this is not Spyderco, and not exactly the topic, I do have a question for you, my fellow knife-enthusiasts. Why is it that some companies such as military surplus, and others, when they sell bayonets and certain kinds of knives, they say "The edge is sharpenable but comes unsharpened."? Is th...

Not really. The whole "survival" thing is just an excuse for kids in adult sized bodies to go play with toys in the woods IMO.
Which is a perfect description of most of us. :)

Re: New Police 4 and observations

If you're on the fence about the P4 in K390, you owe it to yourself to try it.

For me, it's a fantastic EDC, but that may not be feasible for everyone because of legal restrictions.

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

It's not just NY and it's not just eBay. https://taxfoundation.org/supreme-court-decides-wayfair-online-sales-tax-case/ Interesting, I didn't see that. I saw a few states were gradually being taxed. Didn't realize it was that many! If that's the case, you'd think Ebay would realize they are going t...

I'd be all over a HAP40 wharnie dragonfly. I'd probably buy 2, but maybe more.

Re: CTS-XHP Thread

XHP is a great stainless steel no doubt about it, but I prefer M390 over it. It feels like the same steel but turned up one notch in every single attribute. I actually have a totally different take. I feel like M390 takes a finer edge more easily, and XHP takes a coarse, working edge and holds it b...

Re: Let's discuss Nitrogen steels

14c28n doesn't get enough respect. For a "budget" blade steel, it's really very good. I definitely feel like it's a real (not just marketing) upgrade from AEB-L.

Re: Your views on machetes?

I have a little more than a mile of trail that I have to clear 2 or 3 times each year. I have a woodsman's pal, which is pretty good, and a Baryonyx machete, which I like a bit more. I bought a nice machete in 3v this year, so I'll give that a go next time and see if I notice any difference in actua...

ecop
I've actually bought from them before with no issues. I wouldn't have thought twice about ordering from them via eBay.

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

So many authorized dealers to purchase Spydercos but people risk the bay for what, save a few bucks and possibly have an earlier model in hand? Whatever floats your boat. :) There are authorized dealers selling on eBay. National Knives, for example, is one of my preferred dealers, and you can occas...

Re: looking for custom scale maker

Hands down Aramis, dude makes some amazing scales. Yes - he is quite the cnc wizard. Unfortunately does not do custom orders on new knives. And a bit far away. That said - I have been considering his scales for a para3. I emailed him, but haven't received a reply - does anyone know if his scales wi...

Re: Upcoming Sage 5 LW - Who's In?

Better edge retention.... In my experience the CTS HXP of the Chap has better edge retention than S30V... in fact, it feels like a "slghtly better S30 V" to me personally... Ditto. XHP has treated me better than s30v. I've spent a substantial amount of time with the Chap and the Sage (various model...

Does SF Stoneworks do custom jobs? Meaning, could I request/purchase a specific model in a specific pattern? Or do they just do a bunch and sell them?

What's the chance of an Urban in Sleipner?

Urbans come from Maniago. Lots of Sleipner blades are made in Maniago. It's not my first choice for Sleipner, but I'd love to see Spyderco do something with this steel. My rough impression is that it's like Cruwear in terms of toughness, but with better wear resistance. But all my Sleipner blades ha...

I think for a clipitool I'd rather see H-1 SE, and I'm a huge K390 fan.

I'll buy anything Spyderco releases in K390, though.
