Re: Favorite Pre-2005 Spyderco Model?
I think my favorite is the C34 Jess Horn II with black micarta handles. I carry the serrated model fairly often.

Re: Protecting the kitchen cutlery
I think it depends on the type of cutlery you are talking about. If you have carbon steel knives that rust easily then magnetic bars will allow exposure to moisture in the kitchen. I have Japanese carbon steel knives stored in a knife block where each slot is open ended. I am very careful to dry off...

C71 Salsa Question
According to Spydiewiki the C71 Salsa in black "Appears to have been produced both with and without "Salsa" and a salsa pepper logo engraved on handle" Is this true of other colors also?
Thanks,

Re: C41CFFP5 - what happened?
On page 3 of this thread: "Spyderco Native5 40th Anniversary Sprint Run", somebody else mentions the same call and e-mail. Unfortunately, guess it's true. Anybody heard from any other dealers?

C41CFFP5 - what happened?
I received an e-mail and call from Knifecenter today concerning this knife which I had on backorder. The person who called said that this model was not going to be made. The e-mail said it was unavailable. This sounded like a pretty cool knife with fluted carbon fiber. Was this model not made at all...

Worker C01SBK
I recently purchased this knife, a Worker C01SBK. It has a titanium carbo-nitride covered stainless steel handle and a black blade. Spydiewiki mentions the handle coating but doesn't specify the blade color/coating, which is G-2. Does anybody know if this is a correct combination of blade and handle...

Re: Spyderco's Super Collaborations: C-60 My Fav!
Does anyone have any idea how these collaborations actually work? I'm assuming that Spyderco does more than just put the trademark hole in the blade. I also assume there is more "Glesser" in some of these collaborations than others. Anybody know any details about these collaborations? BTW,...

Re: Spyderco's Super Collaborations: C-60 My Fav!
My favorite is the C56 Tim Zowada with the micarta handles, though the carbon fiber model was no slouch either. I really liked the blade shape. Second would be the C46 Lum Tanto mentioned above followed by any of the Jess Horn models. The C-56 Tim Zowada model is most certainly in my top 3 collabor...

Police C07G with gin-1 blade: was this ever made by Spyderco?
I have been offered this knife, a Police model with black G-10 handles and gin-1 blade. I can't find this combination on Spydiewiki or anywhere else. Was this combination actually made or is this a blade switch? The earliest G-10 Police models had ATS-55 blades according to Spydiewiki. All of the gi...

Re: The Civilian - Opinions please.
I would think that the Civilian is very collectible. Multiple blade steels and handle materials makes it very attractive to collectors. I can't imagine it was a big seller for all the reasons enumerated above. Plus the excellent resell value mentioned would indicate that there is reasonable demand.

Re: Stropping for Spyderco edges or no?
Stropping is useful in touching up an edge. I use it as part of a sharpening largely to deburr the edge, especially after coarse stones that can raise a large burr. Leather, wine corks, coarse felt, newspaper all work well.

I sent an email to Spyderco asking how I could authenticate the Sal story and how the knife was made. Scott replied quickly saying they would run it by Sal. I sent a pic also. I will post any response I receive.

Re: C36 MILITARY with STRIPED BLADE
I re-read the original blurb about this knife. Here it is: "This knife came directly from Sal Glesser, owner of Spyderco, at the Oregon Knife Collectors Show. 1 of a Kind."
Could still be a post-factory mod I guess. If I sent this to Spyderco will they comment?

C36 MILITARY with STRIPED BLADE
I wonder if anybody has information about this knife: IMG_1392.JPG IMG_1390.JPG IMG_1389.JPG I recently found it online. The blade is CPM-S30V, the handle black G-10. It is inscribed GOLDEN, COLORADO U.S.A. EARTH. The black stripes appear identical to a similar all-black CPM-S30V Military I have. Th...
