Re: what would ancient people think of Byrd knives?
As said, Polynesians would think as highly of them as they did of steel tools and weapons when they were first exposed to them. They would certainly be amazed. Any other culture familiar with metal working would be impressed with the technology, but they wouldn't be likely to make a new cult over ...

AliExpress is a direct trading website for Chinese made products. Unfortunately some of those products are copies of American made products like knives. You can get some good stuff there, but be aware that if something is badged "Spyderco" it'll be a copy, as is anything marked Strider, or Hinderer.

Does the dealer sell a lot of Spyderco knives? Where are they located? Google is your friend.
To be honest they look and weigh about the same (apparently fakes are much heavier (20 grams?)), the G10 looks identical.

Labour in China is cheap, and they have a lot invested in machinery. If linked advertisements are correct then the steel is something like 5Cr13MoV which is... not the best steel around... even in China and although it's technically on par with 420HC I doubt it gets the heat treatment of Buck or ...

Certainly they'd have to work on steel heat treatment, this one is probably 9Cr18MoV ...
