Thanks Cliff, I guess I should have mentioned that you shouldn't use that rule of thumb as a guide for sharpening, more for if you want to grind a blade after heat treatment. Steel will compress. I saw one worn out once. It wasn't mine, but a friend's. His dad carried it for years, and my friend carried it exclusively for over a decade. I don't think it's completely necessary in an effort to eliminate play, but I agree I would love to see the Southard pivot on a Para 2. My only complaint there is more moving parts usually equals more potential for failure, but in time we'll see if there are any complaints with the Southard. Caged ...
