Just wanted to ask you some things that you never answered from the thread before asking asking about D2



I have a few questions if you have the time:



1) why D2 when you have S30V and VG-10? What advantages does D2 offer over those other two steels?



2) will the D2 knives be/are the ...

anybody hear of any possible changes to the Military model in future?

1) Compression lock



2) slimmer profile but same blade shape/length



3) if not slimmer overall profile then smaller butt on handle <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0 ...

why choose D2 when you have VG-10 or the awesome S30V?

and will the D2 be coated or uncoated? why not M2 instead?

for people who have experience with both:



how does each cut?

how hard is each to sharpen?

how tough is it (resistance to chipping/wear)?

how does each retain its edge?

M2 is often said to be great b/c of its ability to hold up a thin edge well. what about S30V in this aspect?

so lemme see if i understand this:

1. vg-10 only comes form japan
2. BM is made in USA so cannot get vg-10
3. BM uses ats-34 variant 153cm
4. spyderco replaced ats with vg-10 b/c supposedly "better" overall steel
5. heat treatment important too

so my question guys, is: does BM treated 153cm/ats-34 ...
