Re: Byrd Tern: First Impressions

We're in the middle of some design mods on the Tern. sal Thinner blade?? A tern with a blade ground slimmer after the ricasso/plunge line (like the other 8cr Byrd’s) at a similar price as existing would be an instant purchase! I could prob just pick up an urban, but when I first came across the ter...

Re: Spyderco shopping on Amazon - experiences

So what I understood from you here - if it's "sold and shipped by Amazon", it could be a problem; if it's another company, then look at the rating. As for the other companies, I always look at ratings, but have not avoided Amazon as seller so far. But i haven't bought knives over Amazon so far :D E...

Re: Spyderco shopping on Amazon - experiences

Like anything, one has to do a little leg work with amazon and make some decisions around your risk. Over the past few years, I’ve probably made 10 Byrd/Spyderco purchases, all but one through Amazon and its mostly been a great experience because I took the time to pay attention to my seller options...

Re: Experiences with Spydercos SERRATED 8cr13mov?

I’ve had a Byrd meadowlark rescue living in my river pfd for what feels like 10 years. It’s dealt with annual desert sand, PNW basalt sand, has cut plenty of branches, tough outdoor fabrics, been used in minor first aid applications, opened beverage containers of all sorts and been used to prep coun...

Re: Byrd Tern: First Impressions

The tern is what converted me from being a kershaw guy. I used to work in a stuffy fed agency building and carried a tern daily for longer than I can recall, and still feels more “right” than just about any other folding knife I’ve ever used. If you have larger hands or prefer a thin blade, you migh...

Re: Byrd Harrier 2 LWT (1st impressions/bladeplay)

I purchased two of these last summer (just in case one had QC issues). They are both 100% solid with zero adjustments needed. I have a meadowlark 2 as well as a meadowlark rescue all in frn. Zero side to side play. (The rescue has developed vertical play from years of use and sitting wet for days on...

Re: Guessing game: which model will be released first in MagnaCut?

Long time lurker around here but thought I would chime in regarding this topic. I read through the designer’s data and testing results and one of the things that caught my attention, way toward the end, was some thoughts on how this steel has the potential to work very well in thin blade stock and l...

Re: Is there a BYRD in your pocket??

Long time occasional lurker checking in for the first time! I carried a tern for over 10 years while working in an office for a fed agency. I’ve yet to find a knife that feels more at home in my hand, but the harrier 2 lw has all but kicked the tern out of my pocket now that I would in the field ful...
