https://i.postimg.cc/7YBKfY10/20210331-110905.jpg It should look like this right out the box. Geeeez, that photo looks awfully familiar ;) Those scales were very nice, Trifect Customs I believe is where I got those from. I ended up selling it to a member here though, I had a few "other" b...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Hit the river this afternoon to christen a friend’s new-to-her raft and used my Byrd meadowlark rescue to rescue the day…and open the bottle of bubbly, not to mention open snack packages, slice cheeses etc!

Re: UpTern!!

While I’m def interested in hearing what Sal has to say about this model, the linerless g10 + wire clip of the tern would make the Uptern perfect!

Re: UpTern!!

Wasn't the Tern basically a UKPK? It is certainly similar in profile/formfactor to a ukpn, but closer in size to an urban. The Tern is one of those knives that punches way way above the sum of its parts. Frankly, this is the handle shape that all of the Byrd knives should have! While I would person...

Hi Bjz,

I'm getting ready for the Blade show. I'll be happy to share later. Maybe this weekend if I get some time.

UpTern!!

So, the thing that caught my attention most in todays reveal was the UpTern! I carried the Byrd tern as my only knife for years upon years and love it (had to replace it numerous time). A long time ago, Sal mentioned that it was undergoing a redesign in one of the Byrd sub-forum threads. I’m wonderi...

Re: Reveal 10 Timing, Predictions, Discussion

So, not to come off pessimistic, but I’m curious what the forum members actually see in these reveals, or even the “2022 catalog” that came out earlier? Sure, it’s a glimpse into the likely future, but how do y’all use this information? I ask because, a few of the items in reveal 10 aren’t new, they...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

My G10 Native 5, with some flowers on my Jacaranda tree. I bought the N5 over 4 years ago, but never really warmed up to the design. So I decided to bring it out again, really start using it, and give it a fair chance. I'm actually liking it more now than when I first got it. https://i.postimg.cc/4...

Re: Lil Lum...Lil Lum...

I have since nabbed a blue Nishijin 2nd and it is very nice as a dress knife. I still like the D'fly better as a user. Can you speak a bit about why you prefer the DF? I have a couple dragonfly’s that don’t see pocket time (one lives in a dish on the counter and the other is slated for my ski pack)...

Re: Time for a micarta Native 5?

Here is a thought… I treat my Efficient as a “mid size” native. It’s certainly not 3.25 but the blade feels significantly bigger than the N5. It has full steel liners and micarta scales could possibly be more easily tooled up. Not to mention that the Efficient/Emphasis line could use some color! I k...

Re: Lil Lum...Lil Lum...

Resurrecting a not-so-talked-about model…is there any reason why I WOULDN’T consider picking a lil lum up??

I like the lil native and chap…have something of a love/hate thing with DF2. I think I’d like the lack of jimping! All that belly though…not so sure about THAT.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Continuing the conversation, it’s time for todays installment of “the edge is a ghost”…until It’s not. Having the loupe and strop out, I decided to take a closer look at my bd1 alcyone. When I purchased this knife earlier this spring, the bevels were a bit uneven, but we’re generally pretty close to...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Cktg is what got me started down the decent knife/sharpening road! In the past Mark had stated to me that stropping was his “not so secret” secret to keeping knives sharp. Personally, I’ve never found much improvement or overall benefit from stropping (I’ve been using a 5micron paste on balsa and 1m...

Re: sal can we get some new Lil Matriarchs?

Doesn't Bento have them in stock now? In stock at BBS for $149.95. Which really isn't THAT bad of a price these days, considering every where else has gone up in prices, but Bento has remained the same. I almost picked one of these up a year or so ago when they were selling for ~$90. I was into tee...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

I really have no use for a Dodo that I can justify, but your pictures are making me want one. Thanks 🙂. I much prefer hawkbills and wharncliffes for normal edc use, and I'd never tried a reverse s blade shape. I've wanted to try a Dodo for years, but being discontinued made it difficult. Didn't wan...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

The one thing I would share is my burr removal technique. I have only seen this mentioned a few times here. I have found it to be the most consistently reliable method for removing a burr. Since I have been doing this, burrs have not been an issue AT ALL. After making sure i have fully apexed the e...

Re: sal can we get some new Lil Matriarchs?

Did folks have issues with the vg-10 versions? I’d certainly pick one up i the basic vg-10 SE configuration. Its the only delica handle knife I’ve ever been interested in.
