Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

Crazy Good Deal only in the relative sense, but Rex 45 Manix 2's have started showing up on eBay in the $150's... better get 'em while they're hot. (Right after I payed $176 for one... oh well)

Re: Dragonfly XL Proposal

Those would be great knives, but I think you'd have to retain more of the Dragonfly's broad length-to-width blade ratio to claim it as a Dragonfly relative.

Re: Dragonfly XL Proposal

A few years back when I was buying my 3 Dragonfly knives and bubbling over with enthusiasm, I whined for a bigger one and suggested an exact upscale, because I liked the short broad look of the blade. But now, even though I carry my Super Blue model every day as a 2nd knife, I have an issue with the...

Re: Quick question: Upcoming K390 Endura family: Sprint runs or regular production?

It's amazing that these are going to be regular line production! I can't wait. There have been times when a newer version has been thinner behind the edge, so we could hope for that. If I remember correctly (don't have time to go measure right now) the newer mule team knives are thinner, and I have ...

Re: Has the size of serrations changed over the years?

Very cool that you have a nearby store where you can try before you buy. I wish! it's actually about 50 miles away and I only make it over there about once or twice a year. About serration size: for my purposes, the bigger the better. Maybe somebody with more experience like JD or Evil D could talk...

Re: Has the size of serrations changed over the years?

It looks like a cutting beast. I could see it compared to a folding Jumpmaster 1. After using the D'Allara I thought I really wanted the original Jumpmaster, but when I tried one in a store I found the handle to be thinner and less comfortable. That plus the Jumpmaster price made me happy to stick ...

Re: Has the size of serrations changed over the years?

The D'allara Rescue was made 2004-2006 and its serrations are identical to those of my Pacific Salt (2004-2019), except for the slight curve in the Pac Salt's blade. This knife cuts better than any I've ever tried, for thick vines, branches, etc. It even seems to cut better than the Pac Salt, probab...

Can't wait for the Seki k390 models and I want a lw Manix 2
Me too for both, especially the Manix 2. I would quickly spring for a ranger green G-10 model from BBS.

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

This may sound a little hyperbolic, but I think the translucence of the scales showcases the elegant simplicity of Eric's design... and that's speaking as someone who recently replaced the natural G-10 on his two Manix 2's in this series :D I actually think it looks good on the Manix too -- I just r...

Re: Which models did you initially dislike but then came around?

Sage 3. I thought the choil and hand fit were a little too demanding about where I put my fingers, and the argyle scale pattern was too fancy and dressy looking. Later I realized the choil and ergos were a lot like my beloved Manixes and the weave was fairly subtle looking most of the time... but I ...

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

I''ve had mine two days now and I'm crazy about it. Plus, it's an ancestor of my favorite, the Manix 2. The ergos are perfect for me. Eric really outdid himself when he created the Dodo. He definitely inherited a good measure of his dad's creativity and ingenuity. I love the simplicity of the linerl...

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

I've found the small reverse-s to be very useful in the kitchen and around the house in general... a Cricket in my case -- not a Dodo :(

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

Has there been any official mention of SE & DLC models? Sal often says it's up to us... so maybe we should start whining already. I agree that the lack of liners enhances the jade appeal, I hadn't thought about that.

Also, has anybody mentioned anything about a rerelease of this one?

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

Apparently there's been no official mention of another release of this one or DLC or SE? I'm going to start a thread requesting a Red G-10 DLC 4V model from St. Nick's. The Dodo IMO is the perfect knife for this color and material combination and by the time it would drop, I don't think anybody coul...

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

Along with several others, I'm hoping for SE DLC. I wouldn't mind DLC but if I'm only going to have one Dodo, I think I'll opt for the plain edge vs the SE. The only reverse S blade I have on hand is my PE nishijin Cricket, which I'm beginning to think of as a Dodo egg :D I've never used it much in...

Re: Stretched Stretch - continued from Straight spine thread

- I´d buy an XL G10 version of the Stretch, but eventually hoping for an FRN Stretch XL. Not only do I prefer FRN over G10 generally, but also think that the contouring of the FRN contributes to the perfect Stretch ergos (never had the current G10 ZDP version, so admittedly I don´t know how a G10 S...
