Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

We seem to be a long way from an evil A.I. superintelligence that destroys humanity. My guess is humans will be the bigger problem for the forseeable future. In the meantime, A.I. seems to be most useful at leveraging human work. For example, Google DeepMind's AlphaFold project: https://deepmind.goo...

Not a big fan of Zuckerberg or Facebook. Just the idea that Meta’s Fundamental A.I. Research team, is codenamed FAIR is what I would call "fair warning". Microsoft has a colorful history too. Here's a good analysis of their project with Open A.I. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix_R6WTX04I

... I'm curious if others found the pivot and action tight on their PM2 salt? I thought mine might be an exception but after reading this maybe not. At any rate I'm happy with it after backing out the pivot screw a little. Mine was loose enough out of the box to thumb flick it open, and it will fal...

Re: AI art knows Spyderco

I think privacy was pretty much shredded long ago. I think predictive A.I.'s main appeal is to sift through all the data that the Gov Agencies and Corporations were drowning in. Keep in mind that this isn't just an American problem, the same thing is happening in most countries around the world that...

Re: MLB 2024!

2023 NL Cy Young winner Blake Snell signed with the San Francisco Giants (two-year contract worth $62 million + an opt out at end of season).

Giants should have a little life this year, with a big improvement in talent at several positions. Main thing is to be fun to watch.

... Ran a few Bess tests and got 84, 85, and best case 67, worst case 103. Cut up a Safeway receipt with ease. Ok, need to revise this a bit. First throw out the 67 as a flyer. Next the 84 and 85 measurements were taken with the EOU Disposable Clips which give a reading that is ~80% of the reading ...

To bring your earlier YouTube embeds back, just click on the EDIT PENCIL, and then click on SUBMIT. You shouldn't have to change anything.

It would be nice if there was some Administrator global command that did it everywhere.

Re: Oppenheimer - My Opinion

After reading this thread, I watched it on BluRay disc early in the evening. I didn't have a problem watching it, probably because I was forewarned. I was a little disappointed with the movie, but I want to watch it again sometime to see what I missed the first time. It seemed like another Bruce Way...

Agree that pasting anything available on the youtube website does not embed a video in the forum post. (for us)

Pretty sure you need the Media Embed icon enabled.

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

Picked up a cheap digital microscope and have been playing with it for a couple of days. Here's the best pic I've gotten so far of the HIC mule edge. Quite a bit of crud on it even though I just wiped it off. I think the ceramic might take a static charge easily. https://i.imgur.com/wrUVnqR.jpeg Thi...

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2

Those are impressive Bess numbers from a factory edge! I made a point of not cutting anything before the Bess tests. If you cut up a cardboard box, the numbers are going to trend upwards. It is impressive though. When I first got the tester, I tried a lot of knives and was surprised by how dull the...
