Re: The Last Gun You Bought

Just picked this up as part of a trade deal the other day. Its a Smith & Wesson Model 4506-1. I'd never seen one before and had no idea what it was beyond the obvious, but it looked good and felt great in my hand. Figured owning another gun in .45ACP is never a bad thing, especially a DA/SA semi-au...

Not very useful, but seriously, there's a lot to be said for common sense.

When asked what dowry she was giving her bridegroom, a poor Spartan girl said: "My father's common sense."

Re: Can we (civilly) discuss fixed blade prices?

I picked up the Waterway and the Jumpmaster2 recently and they seem reasonable.

I remember when Bark River knives were a LOT cheaper.

Inflation never happens, but oddly enough the price of everything keeps going up.

Re: Have you owned a Spyderco lockback with zero play?

It doesnt matter to me. Mid backlock is still my favorite lock and there is never enough play to bother me. ... it is certainly good enough for my uses. This sums up my experience. I guess the Sebenzas made a name for themselves with the people who worry about this sort of thing. I prefer Enduras a...

Re: Thee Most Practical Spyder Of All Time? Your Choice?

Delicas are "nice" knives for women and children of all ages.

I'm not sure that makes them "the most practical".

I'm not even sure what the most practical would mean, but for the sake of discussion, I'd vote the Siren.

Good info. But they did say the knife stabs or slashes target HALF THE TIME. Competitive shooter Jim Zubiena showing how it’s done on Miami Vice. Don't try this at home kids, he's a professional. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXv8IepBVJQ and in slow motion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q2Il86-...

Re: Anime

I liked The Garden of Words and Your Name. They are excellent productions. I prefer things like Neon Genesis Evangelion. But like Icarus, that anime flew too high and the wax melted. I think that may be why we're seeing simpler anime that doesn't wrestle with angels. We have a new kind of animation ...

Re: The NFL & Other Pro-Sports: A Civil Pacifier Maybe?

LeBron James won three of his four championships in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

The 2016 title was handed to him by the NBA. (Yeah, I'm a Warriors fan.)

Election years and Pro Sports, interesting stuff.

Anyone notice how many Florida teams were/are contenders this year ?

Re: Boye dent poll. Let your voice be heard or be a sheep in a herd.

I was a little concerned about my Siren, but after some investigation, it appears the blade doesn't unlock until the lockbar has just about bottomed out in the lock well. I think it would be difficult to unlock with a Boye dent in the lockbar. Ps if you're still worried, the Waterway is a great litt...

Re: RIP James Bond

I never got into the James Bond movies, but as a kid one of my favorite movies was The Rock with Connery and Nicholas Cage...I always thought, man this older guy is one bad dude! Loved that movie, sorry to hear of his passing. A friend of mine dragged me to see Dr No back in 1962. I'd never heard o...
