I have a g-10 version wtih vg-10.

well, well well, if your light duty task is in term of open boxes, then techno is pretty good with it. However, i dont expect too much from techno on detail cutting.(food pre.)
i go hiking with my techno and it cuts sticks like a boss lol.

p.s current techno lover.=]

The Cat is not discontinued to the best of my knowledge.

I would not hesitate to think of the Cat. It's well made IMO and I think the new ones have jimping too. Other good choices would be a Dragonfly or Manbug.

If he appreciates and uses the knife you can always move him up to a Delica sized ...

Techno lover +1

A perfect little tanky folder. F & F is on the top spyderco list. However, if you need to do some detail cutting, techno is not a great but okay idea.

CTS XHP VS M4 is a tought choice of the steel.

Griptilian program on our D4/E4

Wont that be awesome?

you can pick your own color
possible handle material

actually, I wish spyderco can be a "DEll" in knife business.
