Re: Gayle Bradley 2 pros and cons might buy one

I’ve had mine for about a year now. It’s always with me. The M4 steel comes very sharp and stays sharp for a long time. It’s not stainless so wipe it now and then with a lightly oiled rag or similar. On mine the spine started to turn dark as I handled it. Over time the entire spine turned dark. It g...

Re: Grease or nano oil on bearings?

I guess I’m the oddball here. I use the same oil that goes into my automobile. It works very well for all kinds of pivots. I use a toothpick to apply a single drop to each side of the pivot. I haven’t used grease.

Re: Some things I would like to see from Spyderco ... you?

I’d like to see a compression lock flipper with G10 scales on both sides. A Paramilitary flipper would be something.

Re: Efficient Missing Logo and Blade Steel ID

This happens a lot with Amazon. A buyer will purchase a genuine Spyderco but return it with a fake and get their money back. The next buyer gets the fake. Amazon cannot inspect all the returns with detail. If the product looks like the original and is not damaged then it goes back into circulation.

Re: Care and feeding of M4

You can pretty much use any oil and it will work. The key is to use it sparingly.

I use Valvoline.

I’m looking at my new GB2 and the blade tip is well enclosed within the scales.

Awesome, enjoy!

Most definitely. The pivot sounded a tad bit dry so I placed a drop of Valvoline synthetic motor oil on each side. That did the trick. I’ve found that motor oil works quite well for knives and I always have some around.

Re: Thinking of a new knife

This was very quick. I ordered the knife through Cutlery Shoppe early Saturday afternoon with the free shipping and just got it out of the mailbox this morning. The knife is perfect. I like the heft of it and it fits in the hand well. All handling edges are smooth and polished which is typical of th...

I had that happen with my Southard. I ended up taking the tip down ever so slightly.

Re: Got myself a pm2

I got the PM2 digi camo with black dlc blade right after they came out. It has been very dependable and I like how such a big knife can easily hide in the pants pockets. I’ve used it to cut everything from paper to carpet and it keeps a edge quite well. The compression lock is solid.

Re: Thinking of a new knife

Thanks. I am really impressed by the M4 steel. My Air has kept a great edge despite a few years of cutting open boxes and envelopes with the occasional zip tie along the way. The only criticism I have with the Air is that pocket lint sometimes prevents the lock from engaging. A quick blow of air usu...

Re: Thinking of a new knife

To update, after much thought I decided to pull the plug on a GB2 from Cutlery Shoppe. I have been a Bradley fan for some time now. His videos are eye opening for anyone watching.

So now I will shortly have the Air in the left pocket and the GB2 in the right.

Thinking of a new knife

It has been a while since I visited the forum. My collection consists of a Delica, PM2, Southard flipper and a Bradley Air. The Air is with me all the time. Several months ago the Southard decided to disappear. I have no clue where it went but it has made me think about a replacement. Since I carry ...

Re: A little Dying help

Which part of the frn are you trying not to dye? The faces of the grips? On some of these scales the faces are at angles. It's a complicated pattern to say the least.

Re: So what's your favorite steel?

It depends on the task for me. All around usage, I have to say VG10. S30v comes in second in that same regard. M4 is my favorite at the moment. It sliced like a laser and keeps an edge for a long time. Finally, 204p. Good for heavy duty use.

Re: most underrated/overlooked spydies

I'm not sure if this falls in the overrated or overlooked category but the Gayle Bradley Air is a great pocket knife. The M4 steel and the blade shape together make a small but mean cutting machine. I have had mine for a couple of months now and it's always in the front right pocket.
