BIG thanks to all for their helpful comments, except for Mjc1973's about sending the wounded Techno to him--although the free shipping offer was thoughtful :) I tried the simplest approach first and it worked. That was to loosen the pivot screws on opposite sides. The first time I did it the blade ...

Problem is, I don't need a user and I don't have the tools to bring it back to new shape.

Good Deal?

$20 for a used Serrated Stainless Steel Delica. The person doesn't even know what VG-10 is so I think they have no idea as to the value of the knife. How much do you think I could resell it for?

How much did that all cost? This looks amazing but I think most people would have found it way out of their price range.

Toss-up between Rock salt and Warrior. But seriously I have shaved with my Manbug before. It worked better than the box cutter blades. Don't ask.

Wow, I actually read most of that. Thanks. So what is the consensus for best RIL lockup by percentage? Early seems bad (large change of shearing lock face), late is bad (little room for wear unless treated by a professional) so is 50% optimal? As knives wear (25% to 50% to 100%) does the area of con...

The bigger issue than the dings was the edge chipping. It was ripping not cutting. I can't afford a $60+ sharpening system so I took a $20 hit and moved on. Sheesh.

Isn't early lockup also stronger b/c the lockbar is more parallel with the blade?

RIL Questions

Why do different RIL (framelock) knifes have differing lockup, especially when they are the same model (e.g., Techno). Is this a tolerances issue? What if the knife is made in Taichung? Also, what is the optimal range for lockup? I heard earlier is better but how early is too early?

I guess, but only if I became a real collector. I plan on using what I get and atm I don't see much need beyond what I can handle with my Manbug.

Hey guys, I'm sure your all gonna hate me for this but I sold the Techno and lost $20 between buying and selling, which I think is acceptable. $20 is much less than the cost of a decent sharpening/reprofiling system and even less than sending it to Golden to get refurbished. Lastly, I wasn't finding...
