Re: Edge-U-Cation
All recent production knives should include a brochure-style "Product Information Guide," affectionately known in-house as a "PIG." This format is more detailed and polished than the Edge-U-Cation letters that used to be included with most knives. Letters are still used for Spri...

Edge-U-Cation
Does Spyderco no longer send out the Edge-U-Cation papers with its knives? My last three Spyderco knives I've purchased came with none. My last three were the G-10 Dragonfly, Para 3 with black G-10 and a Para 3 Digi-Camo.

Re: Para 3 Defect?
Spyderco and CQI: You gotta Love it. Mr Mayhem (awesome SoA reference lol) My P3 is like Josh's, which Mike Janich has stated is a "1 gen" and yours is of the CQI "2nd gen". This CQI was due to illogical end user over strike testing. One positive aspect is Spyderco solved an &qu...

Re: Para 3 Defect?
I agree. I love the compression lock. Its got to be one of the strongest and easiest to use locks out there. Probably why the PM2 is so popular.

Re: Para 3 Defect?
As long as its not a defect and truly is intentional, then i will not question Spyderco's decision to put it there. I fully trust their engineering. If they put it there intentionally, then there is a reason. But i would rest a little easier if i could actually see some more of these in the wild and...

Kind of hard to see, but i believe above. It just seems like that step could add the potential for the lockbar to hang.FDE wrote:So does the lockbar engage the ramp below or above the small stepped area?

Locks up nice and tight and is buttery smooth.Ryno wrote:I thought the notch looked intentional. That's why I was wondering if there was any blade play or if it locked up tight.

Re: Para 3 Defect?
Dear chaoticdefect65 and all: Thank you very much for your post. Your knife is not defective. After I read your post this morning, I spoke to our manufacturing manager and chief engineer. They confirmed that the machined "step" was a purposeful in-line change in the design; however, both ...

Thank you. Those were very hard to get.Bill1170 wrote:Nice clear macro shots make it evident that Para 3 has a machining defect on the lock face/ramp. Spyderco will want to see it so they can trace what happened.

Re: Para 3 Defect?
Hello everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted here (possibly years), but i just picked up a new Spyderco Para 3. The first thing I noticed with this knife is that the lock release tab sort of sticks sometimes. Could just be that the knife is so new that it needs to break in. But I've neve...

Re: Para 3 Defect?
Thanks everyone. That's kind of what i thought. I own many PM2's and none of them have this. The knife is otherwise very smooth. But my concern is that over time, this step defect might hinder the locking tab to fully engage once it starts to wear. So should i send this back to the place of purchase...

I cant believe people in here would actually spray WD-40 on their knives. I cant stand the smell of it personally, much less have its smell permanently imbedded in my knifes G10. There are so many better alternatives out there to choose from to clean your G10. If anyone even came close to my knife w...

and if for some strange reason you don't like it, PM2s are easy to sell. Heck you'd probably even make a profit on it! :) Ha! Not like it  Impossible! But you hit the nail right on the head on the resell value. They are like gold. Very fun knives to play with. On another note, Where ya be...
