Great choice!

/ Ah, and your reground sg Delica looks good, man!!
Just don’t hold it up to a new one. It doesn’t even look like the same knife anymore.

Re: Surprised By New FFG Delica

I gotta get this lingo down. Sorry, what does FFG stand for? In any event, I too agree that the Delica is the ultimate carry knife. I personally own 3. I have the Ti Dmascus, a wharncliffe in K390 and a regular blade in M390. I switched out the FRN for micarta on the latter two. They are beautiful ...

Re: Surprised By New FFG Delica

My old Delica is around here somewhere. I just haven't found it yet. Once I have to sharpen the new Delica, hopefully it will be a similar experience to my Wharncliffe Endura. The factory bevel was low enough I could sharpen at 17 degrees, microbevel at 20 degrees on the Sharpmaker, and that edge la...

Surprised By New FFG Delica

I’ve carried a rather abused old saber ground Delica for years now. I’ve reground the tip and blade kick to lower the point back into the handle. I’ve reground the bevels to thin it enough to be useful again. Alas I finally lost it and had to replace it. To lessen the chances of future loss, I got a...

Re: The Ignorance of Steel

Coarse edges work on any steel but it depends on use. One of the only edges I’ve seen that actually worried me a little was a Blue DMT coarse edge on a United Cutlery Tanto. It would almost reach out to cut things. I’d do it again if it hadn’t ruined my DMT stone. Soft steels and diamond stones don’...

Re: micro-beveling - when to reprofile?

I try not to do touch ups unless I can’t get back to my main sharpening gear. Too many times just makes a marathon session to reset the edge. I did try this once. It works pretty well but I stopped for other reasons. Rebevel to 12 degrees, microbevel on the Sharpmaker at 15 with the brown stones, an...

Re: EDC steel advice

Get the steel you think you can sharpen best. Until you can sharpen them all about the same, the easiest to sharpen will be the best performer. If you’re already there then I’d try K390. I’m not a super steel guy but that one might be worth trying.

Re: Best steel for these machetes

1045, 1055, 4140, 4340, and 1075 are all steels I’ve considered for a machete. S7 is extremely tough but you can hit a rock full swing and the others won’t break so I don’t know if it’s beneficial and S7 is much more expensive than the 10xx steels. Machetes don’t live an easy live and while used in ...

I’ve shot a bow since I was 10 and taken it hunting a few times but never actually shot at anything. I never had the confidence to actually shoot at something alive. I always shot a recurve without sights.

Re: Knife that's like a comfortable pair of shoes?

My reground Delica hands down. I’ve had it so long I’ve ground down the kick twice to get the point back inside the handle. I’ve reground the blade to thin it down and get it to cutting geometry.

Re: Flat Earthers: Growing In Numbers

Many have a small bit of truth that makes them more believable, like the geocentric and heliocentric models both working. If you have a model that is different but still predicts planetary and constellation movement there is the hook. If that were the only thing we had to go by we still wouldn’t kno...

Re: Flat Earthers: Growing In Numbers

This is way older than people babbling on the internet. It goes back to the later 1800s and has had periodic upswings and recessions since. Until around 323 BC really. Then around the 6th and 5th century BC the word really got around more so that it was not flat. Right but I was referring to the mo...

Re: Flat Earthers: Growing In Numbers

If the earth is flat, how is it that someone can (for example) fly a plane east from the United States east coast, across the Atlantic Ocean, reaching Europe; continue flying east through West Asia/The Middle East; continue eastward through Central and East Asia; continue east across the Pacific Oc...

I don’t believe it but it’s a reason. Access to resources others don’t have is a great reason to keep something hidden.

Re: Flat Earthers: Growing In Numbers

Thank you. I also discovered a reason according to them for governments to hide the earth is flat. Some FEers propose the earth is a true plane, which means it is infinite in all directions. Some just say there is way more than we’ve been led to believe. Either way beyond the ice wall there is a lot...

Filled my longer range pistol slot with a Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Magnum. It’s a used model but in very good condition. Now to find some ammo it likes, or any at all for that matter.

Re: Flat Earthers: Growing In Numbers

I delved into this pretty hard about 5 years ago when I heard people really still believed it. It was so outlandish I had to find out how it was possible. What I found was interesting. They (flat earthers) have a couple issues but I do admire their search for proof and willingness to question accept...

Re: Optimal inclusive angle for S110V

How much control do you have over the angle you want? To truly optimize the angle you’ll have to experiment and go lower a little at a time and see if the edge is damaged. I lower mine 3 to 5 degrees at a time and use it for a couple weeks and repeat until I either get tired of sharpening or I find ...
