You're right. That's probably the closest in the line up so far. However I can't help but think that the Chappy will be a tad too small for me. Even the Delica is just a touch small(I'm just being picky here haha).ZrowsN1s wrote:Chaparral LW is pretty close.Parkourdude wrote:I wish Spyderco made a Dragonfly XL.....

Re: 1st dragonfly 2
I wish Spyderco made a Dragonfly XL. I know that defeats the purpose of the Dragonfly being a little big knife, but I think it'll be awesome as something around the size of a Delica. I mean it's such a good looking knife. The proportions look great and the contouring of the handles are super comfort...

Re: I love the Spyderco Endura
Oh man, the timing of this thread. I've been on the fence about getting an Endura. I almost convinced myself that all I need is my trusty delica too, and then this thread pops up. :D I do a lot of food prep and I often find the Delica a little short. On the other hand I feel like the Endura would be...

Re: Paramilitary - the complete set of utter goodness
90% of my carry of the PM2 is IWB. Anything from swimming; mountain bikiking (posted a pic while back of the crash aftermath with PM2 IWB); jumping from 30' high platform at our swimming hole; trail running; sitting in front of computer at the office. No problem with the detent. I haven't experienc...

Re: Paramilitary - the complete set of utter goodness
I haven't experienced a PM2 yet.
My main concern is the strength of the detent as I mainly carry IWB.
Would you guys trust the detent to carry in the waistband?

A Caly 3.5.
The VG10 variant was my perfect folder till I regrettably sold it.
OR a folder in between the Delica and the Endura that isn't a stretch.

Re: Chaparral Lightweight - thoughts and pics
To be honest I was a pretty apathetic when I heard about this one. But now that I've seen proper photos, I'm seriously tempted! The stainless steel backspacer looks gorgeous and the frn texturing is actually angled to provide traction like the standard Spyderco frn. That attention to detail blows me...

Re: I don't understand lockbacks being considered slow to operate
Yeah I agree. Opening wise it's just as fast as other locking mechanisms. Closing is a little slower though. Lockbacks are my favorite lock because of their bias towards closing. I tend to carry my knives IWB most of the time and I REALLY don't want a knife to open by accident down there... I can re...

Re: I Hate Japanese Spydies, Sorry
I've been pretty satisfied with my Japanese Spydies so far. That said - I've had and sold 5 (deeeeeeply regret selling them, looking back now they were the perfect knife for me) Caly 3.5's and they all needed me to take the blade off and thoroughly clean the pivot area, they were all super smooth af...

The Delica, especially now that I've got some custom scales for it.

Re: Delica 5
The Delica is just fine the way it is now imo.
I prefer it to be a lockback(I like the 'detent' on lockbacks').
If anything I wish the delica had a slightly longer blade around 3.5 inches. Or if the Endura at a 3.5 inch blade.

Delica!
Perfect size, light weight and cheap enough to use and replace if needed.

Re: What is your favorite stainless steel and why?
VG10.
Easy to sharpen, corrosion resistant, responds well to super fine rods and/or stropping and holds that keen razor edge longer than S30V which is a big thing for me because my knives get light use and I really like having that 'novelty' edge.

Re: I Would Like to See A Caly 3 in VG10 Steel
I have been preferring frn over g10 recently after exclusively carrying the Delica over the past 2-3 months.
A Caly 3.5 in Gray Frn/VG10 may be my last knife purchase for a whiiiiille. I'd buy multiples too.

I really want a Caly 3/3.5 in VG10 but can't afford the secondary market price.
Would definately be in for a LW version!

Re: Anyone else strop there folders?
Most of my touching up is done by strop.
If I've used my knife I automatically strop at the end of the day. I probably don't need to do this but I've found I can go far longer in between sharpenings by just stropping instead which is nice because stropping is just so easy and convenient.

Re: Received and carried my Hap40 Stretch today...
I'm waiting for the vg10 stretch to be released.
The Delica is a little too short and the endure is a little to long.
I'm really hoping the stretch hits that sweet spot for me in terms of size. I have no doubts that the ergos will be a dream.

Yes I know but the G10 Delica's are hard to find now days.
The Native is almost perfect except for the fact that I'm scared of sharpening S30V haha

Does it exist?
I was out of the knife game for a year or two and I find out that my absolute favorite knife - the Caly 3.5 VG10/G10 was discontinued. I reaaaaaly regret selling the few I had. Right now I currently have the Delica ffg and while it is nice and perfect for my needs I'm craving for a VG10/G10 Spyderco...
