Re: Handle foreward Native 5

A thing I've been doing with my Para 3's, Shaman's and linerless Native 5's is rounding off the point of the finger choil in the G10 or CF scales. For my hands anyway, I find the natural grip is where my middle finger lands in the cutout for spydiehole access and my index finger wants to land precis...

Re: Military is back in stock!

Anecdotal I know, but I've had a DLC M4 blade develop a fair amount of rust and I live nowhere near a salt environment. Perhaps I have toxic pockets. https://live.staticflickr.com/1972/44591387504_45f36801b7_z.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/1974/31440027278_dacc5eeebd_z.jpg https://live.staticfli...

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

In the big Magnacut thread on BF, there was recently a post from somebody who cut a hot Thanksgiving turkey with a custom Magnacut fixed blade and it developed a patina. I wonder if Spyderco's testing has revealed this potential? This is just a hunch, but I'd imagine heat treat and blade finish cou...

Re: Mule Team quantity discussion

Late to this discussion, but I think the way to go is a pre-order with additional mules added based on a percentage of pre-order numbers. Not sure what the percentage over should be, 10%, 15%, 20%?.. Maybe it's a simple case of rounding up to the next hundred or two. Say you get 483 folks sign up in...

Re: First Impressions of SPY27 Steel

If it seems that the steel itself feels lighter could it possibly be due to a thinner grind resulting in less mass overall?

Military in CPM-SPY27 or S45VN

Will we see a run of the Military in SPY27 or S45VN? Want to try these out and would prefer to hold out and wait for a Millie version if it's gonna happen. If not then I'll bite the bullet and try to score a P3 or PM2. Haven't been on the forum much so forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Re: Form vs. Function

I had to vote for liking both but if it came down to one or the other then function always wins, I have no use for knives that are pretty but aren't useful. There is beauty in function, but I definitely prefer to also like the looks too, why not? Sums it up for me. It has to be visually appealing, ...

Can We Get A Fluted CF Military?

Here's my new Spyderco dream knife: Fluted CF Military. They did it with the Native, I don't see why they cant do it with the Military. The fluted Ti Millie is one of the nicest Spydies I've handled and a fluted CF version would be an amazingly awesome knife. Let's even do two versions, say one with...

Re: Native CQI linerless/FRN blade swap?

With the Natives I swap out both blade and lockbar together when doing blade swaps. All in all I've found the Native 5 platform one of the easiest models to perform blade swaps on.

Re: S45VN Sprint Run

Mine arrived yesterday and first impressions are favorable. Out of the box sharpness is very good and this was able to cleanly slice a sheet of free hanging phone book paper. Action was a bit stiff but a hair of a turn on the pivot screw has it drop-shutty with no effect on lockup. The texture on th...

Re: Folding Mule Team?

The folding Mule is a neat idea. It already sort of exists with all of the variants for the PM2 or Para3. They could probably select a handle color and go with a lightweight version of one of those for a folding mule. Agree. Either LW Native or LW Para 3 would serve as reliable and affordable platf...

Re: I Tested the Edge Retention of 48 Steels

... I did not expect M4 to be below S30V in anything. M4 seems to be the recipient of excellent marketing, and S30V, not so much... Looks like M4 in this test has fairly equivalent wear resistance with S30V with both at approximately 61 Rc, and M4 having significantly greater toughness. The HRC dat...

Love my S90V Millie and most of all would love to have one in K390. After that 10V would be fun and another run of Cruwear (Micarta?) would be awesome.

...I guess that last paragraph isn’t totally true. I know that the Slysz Swayback, Kapara slipjoint and BladeHQ Dodo are coming. But those were mostly announced or hinted at prior to the new reveal program... I had forgotten about the Slysz Swayback. I handled the prototype at Blade 2015 and that w...

Fantastic design. This mod would be perfect for the comp lock Lil' Native, a knife that I love to carry but would serve me better as a slipjoint.
