1095 is much tougher than most good stainless steels and very inexpensive. (There will always be a tradeoff of sorts between toughness and hardness, some alloys move this transition point one way or the other but the tradeoff is still there.) If you want a knife that you can beat on, pry with, etc....

for some special occasions,such as you cant bring a fixed knife in some areas, then a folding knife is needed. so I think we want to do some hard work, a fixed knife is the first choice.
