Re: My on going salt steel comparison journal

Thank you for this thread. I'm a big fan of the Salt series. About 6 months ago I switched job and came to realize that my former EDC - a PE H1 Dragonfly - wasn't enough for my new tasks. I went back to my SE H1 Salt 2 and it never leaves my pocket. I work in construction as a field engineer and, al...

Looks very nice. D's suggestion is also good. I'd try to make it look like a santoku.

The only substitute for a Delica is a Salt 2... Or another Delica!

Re: AI, Sp AI derco knife. Let’s see what AI does with Spyderco designs

Just to add that AI can do things we can't, and don't really know how AI can do it. I remember reading news about cancer detection by AI that doctors have no idea how it could detect the cancer in the first place.
It's a new world, for sure.

Re: Which Delica 4, is the right Delica?

SS was HG, as wWartstein already pointed out, but currently is SG.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is the hollow ground (is that what it is) worth a try?

There is no hollow grind on the Delica, as far as I know, except of old (not current) versions of the ss handled one.
Correct, but there is on the H1 Salt2.
A really hard use knife.
For everyday carry the LC FFG is probably a better fit.

Re: Help with new Dragonfly

Thanks for the help, ended up ordering the Super Blue Spirt Dragonfly, not coated. Something neat about it over the basic VG-10 versions, not that VG-10 is bad. It was a hard choice over the H1 SE, but I did not need the yellow scales standing out when I carry it. The whole reason I got a small kni...

Re: Calling Larrin

Can't be corrosion, as we've salt series steels.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen, as I have had this experience even with H1 (both SE and PE) but I'm inclined to the psychologic hypothesis playing a big part.

Re: Dare I say… DF2?

Keep in mind the hollow ground on the H1 DF2 is a very high HG, which translates to a very slicing blade. Not at all cumbersome like the Salt 2.
