Re: The DAMAUKPK Project: Damasteel UK Penknife UKPK

Hi Gsg9, Superfool asked for a Damascus UKPK. Since Damascus is complicated to do in production, I opted for Damasteel, which was more readily available. Since squeezing the Model into Golden production with the special blade and special handle was not likely, I opted to try to make it elsewhere. Th...

SPY27 is a highly tweaked Cobalt based steel. Think of VG-10, powdered and highly tweaked by Crucible's Metallurgist.

Re: The DAMAUKPK Project: Damasteel UK Penknife UKPK

Hi Superfool, Not canned, just paused. The US facility is running at full speed and it's not something we can squeeze in at this time. Maniago had some capacity for this somewhat unusual project. We've begun the ground breaking on the new expansion, but it will be a year to two to make a difference....

Re: The DAMAUKPK Project: Damasteel UK Penknife UKPK

Hi Superfool, Not only a "troublemaker" , but a "consistent troublemaker" . (Though I must admit that consistency is really high on my values). BTW, You do know that it's an Urban and not a UK? Right? Last week I approved of the etching to go on the blade and tang. The blades hav...

Re: Favorite small spyderco

Interesting question and interesting answers. Funny that some like Vivi and Darby think of mid to large models as the "small Knife". Also quite a few variations in the models. I personally believe that knives have been getting smaller over the past 50 years and I think that trend will cont...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

Hi Resonanzmacher, Thanx for sharing. We use a process that we call CQI or Constant Quality Improvement. Kaizen in other areas. When we come up with an improvement or a fix to a possible problem, we just make the change. Not based on a model year or anything else. This means that there may be many v...
