Re: Urban size discussion
The issue I have with the last Urban I bought (HH S90V) is the shape of the blade vs. previous versions. The tip is so high it slips off what I'm cutting all the time. I much prefer the shape of the K390 variant for a leaf blade. https://i.imgur.com/91NaIPK.jpg I agree completely with your point ab...

Re: Old fixed blades reimagined
If they ever come back I'd give them another shot. I'd loc-tite the scale screws this time and use my belt sander to put a better edge on it. The blade shape is nice and I like the overall lines. I just couldn't deal with the edge geometry. Still rocking that Dogfather all these years later. https:...

Re: Old fixed blades reimagined
Care to elaborate? A few issues. The choil was so sharp, that I cut my finger. A very obtuse and thick edge- more obtuse than my axe. So much so I had to send it to be professionally sharpened and from the comments from the guy I used, it was quite a job. Even then, the combination of quite a wear ...

Re: Old fixed blades reimagined
Nice idea. The Southfork or Sprig in a tool steel is the one which catches my attention.
Not so interested in the Hossoms. I had a Forager and whilst it looked gorgeous, it was quite simply the worst Spyderco I’ve ever owned. In fact I’d say it was the only poor Spyderco I’ve ever owned.

Re: Li'l Native Slip joint: Perfect pocket knife?
I’ve just picked up the comp lock lil native; it seems good in all manner of grips but I’m wondering whether having to use the choil on the slipjoint version might restrict the ways you will be able to hold it in use. What do I know ?!- with Eric’s track record in ergo’s it will probably be perfect...

Re: Li'l Native Slip joint: Perfect pocket knife?
It feels to me like it will make a good big little knife, kinda like a smaller PITS, with the Urban being the slicey option in that size range. The thicker blade may well suit that.

I for one, can’t wait hear more about the Urban. It’s become one of my favorite designs.

There was a Prototype Native Slipit made some years ago. It’s genuinely exciting to see the Lil Native make it to production.

The wings Slipit was always the knife I recommended to non knife people if they asked for a recommendation. I bought one for my eldest daughter too.

Re: Simple Endura Mod
Great mod, Dan. I always liked the Stretch handle better than the Endura for this reason. Swell over points, all day every day. I took the jimping off of the handle of my Manix 2 LW with just a bit of sandpaper wrapped around a drill bit (didn't have a power sander at the time). Much more comfortab...

Re: What knives in your collection keep wow-ing you?
Gayle Bradley 1. It feels just so. I am almost surprised each time I use it, how right it feels. Urban. It’s got everything I need and nothing I don’t. The Spyderhawk. Just when I thought I hadn’t got much more to experience in knives, that happens. A genuinely different experience to anything else ...

Re: revival of UK Penknife FRN Rescue with LC200N?
I’d buy one if I could. My UKPK Rescue is a regular favorite in the rotation.
I’d prefer full flat grind. Plain edge or SE, I’d try to buy both if there was the option.

Re: Spydisaster! (U.K.)
Politics aside, it would be less of a problem if the UK distributor brought in a better range. There are some excellent stockists in the UK, but somehow we consistently fail to get access to Spyderco products available in Europe. My last 3 purchases had to come from Europe because I couldn’t get the...

Re: Question for JD Spydo.
Hi JD, thanks for your answer. I had just realised that some of my favorite knives have something in common. If you try to find the balance point by balancing the knife on you finger, it is right where your front finger would sit when you are using it. Or to look at it the other way, if I’m holding ...

Re: Question for JD Spydo.
The reason I got the Jumpmaster 2, is how similar its profile is too the Temperance 1 fixed blade. I concur with JD though, it still lacks a few things to really 'replace' the Temperance, like the handle - but also a full flat grind. The Jumpmaster is still a great blade, just a little different fr...

Re: K390 IS "The M4 Killer"
Would someone notice a significant difference between K390, M4, or REX45 if you were using it as a general camping and light hiking knife? If that someone was me, no I can’t notice a significant difference between K390 and M4. Both are hard and wear resistant. I’d be surprised if most people could ...
