Re: How Often Do You ‘Spydieflick’ ?

I don't.

I've tried a number of times, but can never get it just right, so I just open it with my thumb.

Re: Black Knives Matter

I prefer colorful knives, just for variety.

I have too much black G10, Forest Green, and Grey in my collection. I like things with different looks.

Re: Strongest Known Blade Lock for Spyderco Knives?

I have a blue manix and this thing will probably survive nuclear armageddon. I've never had any doubt in it's strength, the lock is very solid.

Re: Street Bowie sheath dulls edge.

I like the hard shell casings but the dulling of blades seems to be a theme. From now on I'll be buying leather or other/nylon. Probably nylon because moisture is an issue with leather. It does not make sense to quibble over it. The solution for hard shell casings just has not arrived yet. Yeeaaaah...

Re: Street Bowie sheath dulls edge.

Thats a shame man, hopefully spyderco fixes that issue That's why I brought it up, as it should happen. The custom sheathmaker search goes badly. I found a maker, contacted him, he said he could make me one, asked me what I wanted and offered me a quote, told him what I needed, and he's been almost...

Re: S110v - waning popularity?

I can see why it might be.

People tend to think it's really, really hard to sharpen. And I guess it could be, but I've touched it up on Fine Ceramics, it worked fine.

Re: Street Bowie sheath dulls edge.

With any fixed blade I draw and re-sheath the knife while applying light pressure towards the spine. This lets me avoid this issue completely. All well and good, except I bought this as a self-defense knife. The sheath dulling it because a draw isn't used with a certain technique isn't really accep...

Re: Street Bowie sheath dulls edge.

That's no good. Per Spyderco Website: "The new Street Bowie features a completely redesigned sheath. Injection molded from polymer, it has a high throat for positive retention while still providing a full grip on the knife at the outset of the draw." I've only had experience with their Bo...

Street Bowie sheath dulls edge.

I recently bought a street bowie, and it's a lovely design, very thin, very slicey, great handle, takes a wonderful edge. There's just one giant, glaring issue: The Sheath. Whatever spyderco used to make this, it's NOT kydex, it's got some sort of abrasive in it, because drawing and re-sheathing the...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Yeah, she's got a very thin grind, and after the UF stone, I'd bet I could shave my face with it if I wanted to. Got the clip positioned how I like it, just need to fix those grommets on the sheath, everything else is perfect! Honestly I could probably just ask Spyderco for a sheath to replace the o...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Ordered a Street Bowie, it should be here tomorrow. Coming with it are CBN rods, a UF rod, and a classic medium-fine DoubleStuff stone. Fingers crossed the grommets on the sheath won't be rattly. I've heard that's a minor issue with the Street Bowie. That said I also own a mallet. Nice. Don't see m...

I find spyderco manages mine just fine, and I don't mind waiting for a knife to be done right the first time.

Re: Models you'd like to see return.

All fair answers. I was just concerned that new members here might just dismiss looking at the secondary market, and thus miss out on some mighty fine designs, especially in their original materials. And I can say that many disco’d Spydies I have acquired we’re not exorbitantly priced. Indeed, some...
