By the way before I got it, I've seen a few pictures of the blue Endua 4 and some pictures looks very blue while some look very turquoise (like mine) Is that just a photography thing or do they come in random variations? Much of the variation you've seen is probably due to photography. Different di...

Often, you hear people talk about the “perfect knife” when discussing a particular make or model of blade. I don’t think that such a thing exists. Sorry... you're wrong. Here's proof... http://www.wengerna.com/stuff/contentmgr/files/5/ce2c8d2d62a721aa3aae361cd56488ea/files/giant_sak_angle_1.jpg

The first Caly I purchased was a Caly 3 CF/ZDP. I decided I also wanted the larger Caly 3.5 and just bought it in VG-10. I like them both a lot. After owning the CF/ZDP for awhile I decided that for my purposes it didn't really make sense to pay the premium for the CF/ZDP. So the 2nd one was VG-10. ...

The Golden-Colorado-USA-Earth-made Manix will be an excellent souvenir of your visit to Spyderco in Golden. (and oh yeah... it's a great knife too  )

Update: a new budgetary month has arrived... so... I've placed an order for a Caly 3.5 (the standard VG-10 version). I finally decided that for me, the slim profile and ease-of-carry in the Caly 3.5 trumps (for now) the compression lock and slicker-opening of the Para. Thanks to you all for your sug...

Whichever you get, I'd suggest getting the FFG (full flat grind) version. For me at least, I've found that the FFG blades perform better, on average, than the saber-ground blades... for most tasks anyway. In the photos above the Endura (and SAK) are FFG, while the Delica is flat-saber-ground. Over t...

Re. choice: a lot will depend on your intended use, and perhaps on local knife laws. The Endura is a pretty large knife, longer in the pocket and is scarier-looking when its longer blade is open. If you're interested in a knife for self-defense, that's good. If you want it for more general day-to-da...

I have the Caly 3 CF/ZDP and the Manix 2 translucent blue. I like them both a lot, but the Caly is the one I carry... much more often than any other knife. The Caly is very slim for its size and stays out of the way much better than the Manix if you are carrying in one of your front pants pockets. W...

See, if I already had a Caly 3, I wouldnt be choosing a 3.5 over the Para2. Why? Because why pay all that extra money for a knife you already own with .5 inchs of extra steel. I would get the Para 2 to be honest. You already have a Caly. I guarentee later on your gonna feel like your carrying the s...

fliktrik, I am in complete agreement, buddy. :D I love my Caly 3.5 - it's my favorite EDC. If Sal was able to incorporate a compression lock into the design, I would be very happy. Add some U.S. steel on top of that and I'd be ecstatic. Yeah. Given that the "ParaCaly" does not exist, I've...

I've heard of lock "failures" due to excess lint or debris getting into the lock mechanism, but have never experienced anything like that myself. Such a failure might reasonably be considered a user error rather than a failure of the knife.

Well, i'm pretty sure the Caly 3.5 and the para 2 are nearly the same size, at least blade wise. The Caly 3 has about 1/2 inch less blade, but is nowhere near as stout as a Para 2, depending on how important that is to you. Yes agree the blades are similar size, but the Caly 3.5 is quite a bit slim...

For what it's worth, performance wise the Para 2 is **** near unmatched as far as i'm concerned. Also, the straight spine will grow on ya. I agree the Para 2 is a great knife; but I love the form, size, and easier carry-ability of the Caly. Since the Para-Caly doesn't exist (yet :D ) I suppose I'll...

Do lefties have major problems using the Para 2?... I figured a lefty would simply use their thumb to operate the lock, rather than the index finger. Of course, not (yet) owning a Para 2, I haven't yet experimented with left-handed use, just some short try-outs using my right hand.

My dream knife: the Para-Caly?

I have a Caly 3 that is my main EDC and have been thinking about getting a bigger knife; either the Para 2 or Caly 3.5. The problem is, neither one is exactly what I'm looking for. What I'd really like is the basic form-shape-size of the Caly 3.5, but combined with some of the best features of the P...

Pretty soon, when the buying slows down, the edge temptation will strike. Having a well built, ergonomic tool with top notch materials will no longer be enough  You will want your blades to be as sharp as you can possibly make them :D I'm not buying too many new knives lately, my latest is a C...

Welcome to the forum David. So you like the length of the Caly 3.5, but you like the carbon fiber and ZDP of the Caly 3? Guess what? You can have both! http://spydercollector.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/spyderco-2012-prototype-caly-3-5-zdpcf/ Thanks! Actually, I did decide on the Caly 3 and ended up b...
