By the way before I got it, I've seen a few pictures of the blue Endua 4 and some pictures looks very blue while some look very turquoise (like mine)
Is that just a photography thing or do they come in random variations?


Much of the variation you've seen is probably due to photography ...

Often, you hear people talk about the “perfect knife” when discussing a particular make or model of blade. I don’t think that such a thing exists.

Update: a new budgetary month has arrived... so... I've placed an order for a Caly 3.5 (the standard VG-10 version). I finally decided that for me, the slim profile and ease-of-carry in the Caly 3.5 trumps (for now) the compression lock and slicker-opening of the Para.

Whichever you get, I'd suggest getting the FFG (full flat grind) version. For me at least, I've found that the FFG blades perform better, on average, than the saber-ground blades... for most tasks anyway. In the photos above the Endura (and SAK) are FFG, while the Delica is flat-saber-ground. Over ...

Re. choice: a lot will depend on your intended use, and perhaps on local knife laws.

The Endura is a pretty large knife, longer in the pocket and is scarier-looking when its longer blade is open. If you're interested in a knife for self-defense, that's good. If you want it for more general day-to ...

I agree... the Manix feels great in the hand...

I have the Caly 3 CF/ZDP and the Manix 2 translucent blue. I like them both a lot, but the Caly is the one I carry... much more often than any other knife. The Caly is very slim for its size and stays out of the way much better than the Manix if you are carrying in one of your front pants pockets ...

See, if I already had a Caly 3, I wouldnt be choosing a 3.5 over the Para2. Why? Because why pay all that extra money for a knife you already own with .5 inchs of extra steel. I love my Caly 3.5 - it's my favorite EDC. If Sal was able to incorporate a compression lock into the design, I would be very happy. Add some U.S. steel on top of that and I'd be ecstatic.

I've heard of lock "failures" due to excess lint or debris getting into the lock mechanism, but have never experienced anything like that myself. Such a failure might reasonably be considered a user error rather than a failure of the knife.

Well, i'm pretty sure the Caly 3.5 and the para 2 are nearly the same size, at least blade wise. The Caly 3 has about 1/2 inch less blade, but is nowhere near as stout as a Para 2, depending on how important that is to you.

Do lefties have major problems using the Para 2?... I figured a lefty would simply use their thumb to operate the lock, rather than the index finger. Of course, not (yet) owning a Para 2, I haven't yet experimented with left-handed use, just some short try-outs using my right hand.

I think there was a thread about this awhile back... I believe there were at least some tentative plans/ideas re. producing such a thing.

Pretty soon, when the buying slows down, the edge temptation will strike. Having a well built, ergonomic tool with top notch materials will no longer be enough :eek: You will want your blades to be as sharp as you can possibly make them :D
