In general I agree with MJ regarding an aggressive serration feature. If a blade features a partial serration this aspect of the blade leans heavily toward a utilitarian assist. However, a full serration such as the Spyderco Civilian - one of my favored offensive carry folding knives since it became...

The handle screws of the Pygmy Warrior thread directly into the tang of the blade, but if you look closely, you'll notice they are offset. The screws on the left side of the handle do not align with those on the right because they actually fit into different holes in the tang. The top scales on eac...

Agreed. There were, to my understanding from Bob Taylor's initial eval, appropriate screw sets accompanying each knife. Not the case with mine if this is accurate. Pricing I concur. In my honest opinion this is a $165 to $200 dollar knife (and $200 is max). Shopping around is a good idea. Edge wise ...

Pygmy arrived. #32 Collector - the outlet I bought mine from offered they had one numbered and two non-numbered in stock - I took the numbered. Grip is superb. Forward/Saber grip is quite comfortable. Reverse grip is excellent. The grip panals on both sides, of this particular early run, appear to b...

Good deal. Mine should be here soon :) Point being (still) the reduced double tine guard will not provide the protection the original guard did. Has to be that way if you're constructing as this model is constructed / fabricated. Again, don't soak your hand in STP and try slamming it through a car t...

My sincere appreciation to Sal for ensuring the Spyderco Warrior brochure section about Michael D. Echanis was rewritten and the current editorial now far more concise, accurate and appropriate for the venue it appears in. The Echanis Family has been notified. I just posted - for the historical arch...

Our company (Company A, 1/19th SFGA), issued LaGana tomahawks in Kuwait and our teams prepared to go into Iraq. They were, as Pete LaGana envisioned when he designed them for use in Vietnam, handy and more than adequate for both utility and CQB. We had several 'hawk instructors in the company, mysel...

And it should be inexpensive so you don't mind losing or leaving it behind if necessary - and therefore as easy to have two of the same on hand. KA-BAR Fighthing - Utility Knife has historically been a blade of choice for Special Forces / Special Operations Forces. Can and will do it all I carried /...

Throwing knives is a great way to have fun and at the same time develop one's hand-eye coordination as well as sense of balance. Ever so often I stop by a local dojo where we can throw small knives, spikes and stars. Great fun - and all the above. MJ's observations hold true, IMHO. Historically and ...
