Finally in the Paramilitary 2 Club!

Just opened the door to find my new Paramilitary 2 sitting on the doorstep! I could not be more stoked on this knife right now. This is alot of firsts for me, first USA Spyderco, first Spyderco nicer than an Endura, and first steel better than vg-10! (I don't count the 154CM on the two benchmades I ...

Titanium Locks

Tomorrow (according to the shipping I paid extra for :rolleyes :) I will have my Para 2, and I could not be more stoked about that.
Just a few days ago, one of my best friends who happens to believe Ernest Emerson is an immortal god hailing from Valhalla, purchased a cqc-7. Of course, there was ...

Thanks for all the recommendations! My palm sits right about 3 1/8 inches. I'm intrigued by the Techno, but I have always dismissed it because the handle appeared too small and boxy for a firm and sure grip. I would love to be wrong, though!

I should say, right now my main contenders are the Sage 2, Small Sebbie, and I love the XM-18 3, but i would be terrified of losing it :p

Short and Strong question

I will be enlisted in the US Navy in just a few days time, and I was surprised to learn that knives carried by Navy serviceman are restricted to a blade length no longer than the users palm.
I am looking for recommendations on the slickest, most comfortable and most durable folder with a blade 3 ...

Penny for your thoughts?

Well, I think my Spyderco addiction is finally settling in strong. I just ordered myself a Tenacious (not much money flowing right now) but I find myself making plans for more.
Anyway, I found out for myself for the first time yesterday the value of carrying two (or more) knives. I want an H1 ...

Needed to move 40 gallons of dirty oil/water waste from a 50 gallon drum to buckets for hazo transport. Made a siphon with heater hose and an air compressor. Buddies knife couldn't get the job done, but my trusted and loved Endura ate it up like it was nothing, and didn't mind the dirty conditions ...

Thanks for the opinions, everyone.
As a quick note, I carry my knives tip down. I just prefer it for some reason. And I have been looking at the Salt series and plan to snap one up as soon as they offer a model with bolted together construction. To me pinned is a deal-breaker

Awesome, thanks you guys. Love this forum, always good info. Hope I can get a few more Spydies under my belt, the collections you all sport make me jealous haha. I'm actually enlisting in the Navy in a few short weeks, so maybe I'll have an excuse to buy more :P

Opinions on Military EDC

Sorry for such a lame question, but I live in an area where there are absolutely no stores even remotely close that carry more than 2-3 Spydercos and therefore in-hand comparison doesn't happen for me.
I'm wanting a Military real bad, and I don't typically mind larger knives but I havn't actually ...

Wondering about titanium locks.

Hey, I've just been curious about the titanium locks used on knives such as the Sage 2 and Military models. I know some locks use a steel face at the point of contact to the blade tang to prevent the soft titanium from wearing down...
I'm unsure whether Spyderco does this and was wondering if ...

My first Spyderco! (Finally)

Well I'm still saving up for a Para2 (or something ;) ) but I finally decided I had enough of my Griptilian sitting on the shelf unused when it could be money toward a Spydie. I put it up on the ol CraigsList and not 15 minutes later I had a trade offer.
Long story short, got myself a like new, in ...

I don't mean to cause any dissent with this, just putting my opinions out there for the heck of it. I totally agree with just about everyone on here btw. My feeling is just that "hard use" has almost become a requirement among many people. Spyderco is a company I've gravitated toward ...

Rust is the chemical breakdown of the steels' structure. It happens more readily (usually) at the edge and can be sharpened away. But as to whether rust affects a blade... does Drain-o affect a person? :P
1095 is in my hall of fame for fixed-blade steels. But it requires upkeep. It's not impossible ...

My thoughts on the "hard use" trend.

As an aside, I'm pretty new here, and everyone has been exceptionally friendly and helpful. I still haven't decided on what my "first" Spyder will be, but I'm leaning heavily on the SuperLeaf. I'm surprised I haven't heard more about it. Great design, LOVE that wire clip (just throw it on everything ...
