Thanks. Its a wood called Texas yellowheart. I think it is also sometimes called "Bois D'Arc" Great stuff to work with. It was not stabilized, but I am planning to put a few coats of gunstock refinishing oil on it which will accomplish pretty much the same thing. Once thats done, I'll put ...

Depends on the size of the wood you are starting with, and what model of knife you are going to scale. i don't know of any easy frn replacement jobs. replacing the frn is a lot of delicate work with a flat router dremel bit for sure on all models i have opened up, but it can be done. i am plannng on doing a tasman that way soon assuming I find what I expect to inside. would have started but the yello...
