I'd like to see a small Lum folder, about the size of the Dragonfly in all stainless or with aluminum handles, with some jimping on the blade. Lums are more about style than usability, but this would make a great light-use/gentlemen's folder.

I have a Kai chef's knife made of VG10 and it's the sharpest kitchen knife I've ever used. Good rust resistance too. VG10 would be an excellent choice for Spyderco, though it would be more costly than a Chinese steel. What about H1, if edge retention is good enough? Depends on what market segment is...

Yellow is much better for visibility underwater. Neon yellow would be even better. Future model maybe?

But I agree, orange is hard to miss anywhere above sea level. I got it on Amazon. I think all of them now have this hourglass clip.

My first mod (although an easy one)! Dyed the yellow scales on my Salt 1 orange using Rit powdered dye. I wanted to use Tangerine, but they were out of it, so I used a combo of 2 parts Sunshine Orange to 1 part Scarlet. I think it looks fairly close to the orange frn Spyderco uses on some knives. BT...

Good idea. I should buy some digicam (or natural) G10, cut it up into several pieces and experiment with different dye combos before doing the 'real' dye job.

Thanks for the compliments, it is infact natural G10.. Its actually a factory spyderco PM2 scale! Just hidden under some digicam. ;) w3tnz, those look awesome. Kind of like green glass. I have a black bladed Para 2 and I was thinking about getting some ghost jade G10 scales made for it. Your "...

How about: A SS framelock Sage, S30V, with gray G10 inserts to improve grip. A graphite alamite version would also be cool. Salt 1 and Pacific Salt in blue and orange frn Cricket and Lum Chinese with Anso pattern jade G10 scales. The Lum could also come in a black blade version with jade G10. Para 2...

Can anyone recommend a source for info or an instructional video on how to mill out G10 scales for nested liners? I have a dremel and I could buy the drill press attachment for it, but I'm not sure how well this would work compared to a 'real' drill press. Anyone tried it? Not much info on youtube a...

Collectibility can be a fickle thing, it's determined by demand - and that's tough to predict. Although limited in production and currently desired by many knifeknuts, the Chinese Folder was a production item, and not say a limited run of 20 pieces. Never use or alter your knife if you hope to incr...

The Lum was my first :spyder: I have the green with a satin blade. I prefer to use mine especially when going out to dinner. It's one knife I will never get rid of. The unique aesthetic lines combined with it's slicing ability and sheeple friendliness make it a beautiful gentlemans folder :D A true...

Thanks for the info, bh49. I really like this knife...maybe I'll buy a second one to use while this one stays in the safe. Do you happen to know if the blade coating is DLC, or is it something else? Delica77 , Welcome to the Forum. Enjoy your stay. Your Lum- black blade/foliage green handle is "...

Lum Chinese folder

I recently became a Spydie addict and have purchased 7 or 8 Spydercos in the last month. Any ideas on how to control this, short of buying every knife they make? Anyway, my most recent acquisition is a Lum Chinese folder (green aluminum handle w/ black blade). This is the first out of production kni...
