Stewart, I was wondering about the designed purpose of this knife. With the thick spine of the blade and nice belly, I would assume it is a heavy butchering knife primarily. Could you elaborate on this knife and it's purpose please? Thanks for a great knife design! :)

I just love the knife design ...

The Amsterdam model had the edge all the way at the rear of the blade, VERY close to the thumb in edge up configuration...
This one has the edge away from the scales to make it safer for the user...

I have a complicatewd grind to get it to work for me, and the makers battled to replicate my grind ...

Firefly looks better in that picture, but I still feel like the orange and CF clash. Replace it with black G-10 and I would like it 10x more.

Or make it completely out of CF (I'm not a fan of orange)

What I really like about the Firefly are the contoured handles, finaly something else than ...

I think the South African fixed blade you're thinking of wasn't from South Africa. It was from New Zealand. Called the "Serrata" and it is being tooled at this time. sal

I always found the Serrata the most sexy looking knife ever.
I'm yearning to this one since I heard Spyderco was doing a collab ...

There are also plenty of dirt cheap friction folders on the market for anyone curious to try one out. I just can't see the gap in the market where this fits? But then again I wouldn't buy anything that didn't lock up so I wouldn't really know what goes through the mind of a FF consumer :p

Really ...

And, CPM M4 would still outperform it in some ways. :) I like the edge that the high tungsten M2 class steels give which is why I want to try the M3 class. truly though CPM M4 is a tough act to follow. At the prices Sal quoted and less performance than M4 I say ,Why?

The mule would be a perfect testing platform for CPM 4V

K490 would also be nice (but wouldn't be available :o )
