First off, you shouldn't need to, but if you wanted to, I wouldn't deem it 'tacky'- perhaps 'particular' or 'eccentric', but why should you care about what other diners think? Life is too short to futz w/ a useless knife...

All those beautiful Spydercos, & you don't love them, they're not even in your top ten? I don't think that many here can empathize or agree w/ you...I own 1 Benchmade & 1 Microtech, but only because they're purple...

I check the forum intermittently, I've been interested in & collecting knives (Spydercos & kitchen (mostly Japanese) for awhile. My DH indulges my knife addiction, although I don't think he understands it; my kids have grown up w/ it, there's always been knives up on the walls(magbloks). Up until ...

My small EDC Spyderco is a Meerkat-I love this knife! After it became discontinued & was a bit harder to find, I worried about carrying it (especially after almost losing it a few times). Most of the time, I bite the bullet & carry it anyway, backups are navigator, caly jr., ss dragonfly, & now, the ...

Got mine today (& the grey 'steel' t-shirt) & I love it! I do think the purple is a bit dark & muted, but that could just be a comparison to my 'toxic' green USN Endura. Thank you to the folks at Spyderco for recognizing their loyal customers by doing special runs for different groups & for creating ...

I've also been looking at the Duckfoot. I have a Sharpmaker, some Shapton glasstones & other waterstones, & I've been trying to sharpen my kitchen knives, but for some reason, I'm nervous about freehand sharpening my Spyderco pocket knives (I have worked on my plain edge Spyderco kitchen knives ...

You will love the Tenacious! It's a great size, very solid, & you'll definitely want to carry it. It replaced my well-used Endura as my work EDC.

Well as a recent purchaser of a Lum, I respect your right to dislike some Spydercos-I prefer to think of them as 'knives I would purchase last' -- just because something doesn't appeal to me right away, doesn't mean it won't at some time in the future (or after I handle it). The Lum design is one of ...

Thanks, Blerv, for that comparison of the Lum & the Barong-I really like the Barong, although as you noted, it's a bit big for EDC, even in the purse-but the shape is so lovely...

Decided I should get the Lum, too, just ordered from NGK-even if it's VG-10 instead of ZDP189, I'm sure I'll love it ...

I'm quite impressed with the Scorpius (serrated edge), got this one & an Adventura from Sierra Trading Post, at a more than reasonable price. I alternated pocket carry w/ these for the last couple of weeks I was at work, a local garden center & a legitimate place for knife use. I don't have a strong ...

I always wanted a Lum Chinese folder, but never got around to getting one, when they were available (& I'm not so obsessive, that I would pay big bucks to get a discontinued knife (not yet, anyway)). How would you compare the Lum to Ed Schempp's Barong? I got this, because the shape was vaguely ...

OK, I had to reply to this-the Meerkat is quite possibly my favorite Spyderco. I bought it (in a clamshell, no less), got home, couldn't figure out the lock, & called them in Golden, CO & was on the phone for a ridiculous amount of time-it's really hard to explain this lock over the phone to someone ...

I work at a garden center, in my bag, along w/ several pruners & scissors, is my Endura. I'm definitely tempted by your use of the jumpmaster, since I'm a kitchen knife junkie. (Please, Sal, consider a Butch Harner kitchen knife-it doesn't have to be serrated).
