I got my father and I some Spyderco Dragonfly 2's in orange.
We are both still trying to learn to easily and reliably open them (since they are so small), but once they are open it really is a "little big knife".

The position of the lockbar is vastly less important than whether or not the lock is solid and reliable. I mean, if the knife is functioning perfectly, I would not search for something to worry about. I would not worry about flicking causing noticeable damage or accelerated wear on liner/frame/compr...

Along with the pivot I noticed that the lockbar screw tension had an effect on how tight the action was. I left it slightly looser than snug and Loctited it.

Recently I quit worrying about minute blade-play.
If the knife is dependable and the play doesn't affect function, then I can live with it.

Someday I may even be able to tolerate off-center blades... haha. :rolleyes:

I really don't think they were handing out free calendars just for submissions...think about that for a second. Everyone who even remotely wanted a calendar could just submit any old random knife pic and get it for free. What would be the point of them trying to sell a calendar if they just gave it...

I would give it more time and effort. I know when I like a knife, I will do whatever I can to make the knife function properly. I feel the same about combo-edge knives.
I can't change what the market wants though.

SpyderEdge knives seem to be doing well enough though.

I completely disassemble, clean, and lubricate all of my knives (except my Microtech LCC D/A) at least once, and more likely twice, when I first get them. After the those initial cleanings, if it's a lockback/slipjoint, I will occasionally clean the lock-tang area, otherwise my folders are left alone.

My experience is the complete opposite.
