August of 2002. I picked up a CE Police from Jekyll and Hyde bookstore in Bar Harbor, Maine while on vacation. Then I came home and found Bladeforums and learned that there was a clearance sale on Spydies at Smokey Mtn Knifeworks and I got the bug real bad. Have always had one or two on me ever since.

Congrats Wickedwest,

The Caly 3 was the only knife that my wife ever complimented. She knew I had ordered it for my birthday and when it arrived I proudly showed it off and she said "Oh that's cool. Now this one's really nice". She does have good taste, I must say.

Congrats on your new Spydie. The C25 is one of my favs and I find no problem with the lack of jimping or contours for your fingers because the G-10seems textured enough to provide a good grip for most tasks, although I never would consider this or the C50 to be a "hard use" knife. I have a...

Which polishing wheel and type rouge do you guys use to polish out scratches? I have been thinking about doing this on a large buffing wheel but have been afraid of it not looking very factory. I bought a stick of white rouge marked for stainless and hardened steel at Sears Hardware. I used the lit...

I first saw a Police model in some gun magazine back in the early 80's and thought that it looked cool but my baby at that time was a Gerber Folding Sportsman II with stag scales which was my EDC and I didn't need more than one good knife, I thought.(This was subsequently stolen from my hotel room w...

I don't remember what I was expecting but the Standard was a very pleasant surprise to me. The first time I held one it seemed "just right". I even had to show my wife, "hey honey look at this one, now don't you think this is cool?". She didn't but that's not important. I love mi...

This week, I carried the Navigator (almite PL) with the FRN Jester in my pocket. Not bad, nice feel with good heft and smooth action, sheeple friendly, capable. Sometimes I want a black clip instead of a shiny one. I carry IWB. Then the old black Calypso JR. is hard to beat. I'd say that would be th...

- FRN serrated Merlin to a good friend who I knew would use it hard. He loves it. - SS serrated Endura to another who helped with work on the house. - Several combo edged Spydercards as Chritsmas gifts. - Almite VG-10 Navigator PL , for a relative who wears suits to work, like me. I have a couple of...

I've got one but I don't wear it even though I'm "forced" to wear a tie everyday. I don't use tie clips or pins n' such. Besides, I always have two other knives on me anyway. I saw it on he bay for cheap so I grabbed it. Always love a bargain. ;)

Ahh, the Standard. Great knife with a not so great name. I've got 3. I bought my first one , a serrated model, on the Bay not knowing what to expect. When it arrived I was blown away as it seemed so perfect in size, heft, etc. I carried it everywhere as a heavy duty little knife and got another as a...

The Para was one of those knives that spoke to me when I first handled it. It is light, smooth, wicked sharp and just a pleasure in all respects. You'll love it. I found myself continually saying, oh yea, oh yea, as I fondled it. I bet you'll do the same.

Just a couple of things I have found to add to the great info above,... I use a blue Sharpie marker instead of the black because it is much easier to clean up when you're done. An alcohol swab makes it disappear instantly. Don't pull the end of the blade off of the stones at the end of the down stro...
