Re: Native old and new thoughts / madness
My opinion on the FRN Natives is I like the old one better. I have three newer ones and one on the way, it is a Jack of all trades knife, those options we have concerning blade grinds and steels are awesome. Still, maybe because of getting used to it, the old texture on the handle, its shape and the...

Re: PM2 in s30v vs s110v, same price which one?
I would go for the S110V. Right now I EDC the Manix LW S110V, perfectly satisfied. The S30V PM2 is a bit tricky to sharpen, OTOH it is the only PM2 I use and sharpen, other S30V knives seem to take a good edge more easily. S110V is easy to touch up on the Sharpmaker rods, for reprofiling I would con...

Re: S110V Mule corrosion resistance (hunting pics within)
Thank you for summing up what convinced me to use the S110V mule even a little more than the XHP for hunting. I thought S110V would be weird for EDC, too but the Manix LW proved me wrong-and I´m glad it did. It keeps going after lots of cardboard and paper cutting and with the brown Sharpmaker rod f...

Re: Complete change of mind on frn
And please don't forget that we actually did have at least one if not two fixed blades with an FRN handle. I've had several "non-knife" people who I've let use my TEMPERANCE 1 model that the FRN handle on that knife was more comfortable than any other knife handle they ever had their hand...

Re: MT21P - Mule Team Fixed Blade with CPM 4V
This one came fast! It arrived today and what a surprise! It is ground as thin as the S110V! The factory edge feels great, no signs of a buffing wheel used and it has a nice bite. Initially I decided to get just one but I might need a spare one too. Well, I better cut some stuff and decide afterward...

Re: Complete change of mind on frn
I like Spyderco´s FRN, the models with liners seem very well balanced, I just can´t stand the holes in them, seem to attract lint and dirt. For continuous use/EDC I prefer lnerless folders, would love some full liner ones, though. As I don´t have any except the D´Allara Rescue which is just a bit to...

Re: Is there a "more ideal" platform for testing steel?
I like this idea. Just a slim, thin blade to compare steels and different edge angles in light cutting tasks/low cut repetitions like cardboard, meat or leather. For every tougher cutting I prefer the existing platform. The Mule Team is as ergonomic and versatile as a fixed blade can get. Perfect fo...

Re: UK penknife question
Great knives imo, the UKPK has a stop at the 90° open position, most slip joints don´t. As long as a finger is in the choil they are as safe as locking knives.
I use the G10 UKPK Rescue as my main EDC, has not let me down, ever!

Re: 5 most often used Spydercos
Ok, no picture but great knives on my list:
1. UKPK Rescue (no sheeple around my work): the most used knife I posess, by far
2. Manix 2 LW BD1/S110V
3. Mule Team M390/XHP/S110V
4. Moran DP orange
5. Tasman Salt SE (or Byrd Hawkbill)
Oh, and a Ladybug Hawkbill SE always rides with my keys ...

Re: Mule Team 21
The Mule Team shape is the best all-purpose knife design I own, be it food prep or gutting/skinning deer. Actually the first Mule Team blade I got was just to have this design! Edge all the way to the handle, pointy tip, just a slight curve instead of the, for me, useless belly typical drop point hu...

Re: MT21P - Mule Team Fixed Blade with CPM 4V
Wow! This one almost escaped my view-got one, luckily. I can´t wait to see the finish on this steel-so far all Mule Steels I have show a characteristic blade finish. If my poor abilities allow I might polish it up and use it competing with M390, XHP and S110V, mainly on roe deer. Now waiting for del...

Re: Spyderco Tenacious
You get a great knife for a decent price if you take the Tenacious. For my hand the Persistance works a little better, though. I like the cutting edge reaching all back to the handle and if you compare the blade geometry to the Mule Team... Perfect! The G10 handles feel great, smoother than on PM2 o...

Re: Wow the Native 5 flew under my radar
Glad you like it, for me the swedge-bladed older model fits better, at least its handle does. The S110V N5 feels a little better than the FRN one I have but the rounder handle of the older model is close to perfect for me, glad I got the KW exclusive in XHP.

Re: Spyderco Enuff for EDC
For me thickness and screw on/off FRN handles are big pros for the Enuff. I just have the sheepsfoot in VG10 and H1 and they are a joy to use! The sheath is the original one, giving enough retention but I definitely am planning some DIY handles and kydex sheaths. With those threads it should be as e...

Re: Who's getting the new mule?
I will skip this one. Having a handful of steels to choose from that are being compared to D2 this one, just like PSF27 doesn't lure me. Especially as € seems to fall constantly. I was a little disappointed hoping for cast 440C, Maxamet or 10V Mules and my D2 encounters have not been good so far. I ...

Re: Easiest/Safest to open and close one handed (lefty)
I'd go with midlocks, ball locks, bolt locks, compression locks and slipjoints. Liner-/frame locks are not so easy to operate left handed. Maybe if those locks were the only knives one had getting used to always crossing the blade's path with the thumb would be a matter of time.

Re: Chances of a new Dodo?
Well, M390 or CTS 204P would be my first thoughts but Cru-Wear sounds good too. Some steel I'd feel rather bends that gorgeous tip rather than a brittle one.
S30V feels like a risk when I open cardboard boxes that could contain staples while I feel confident using a H1 knife with a similar tip.
