Hi Donut, thanks for the quick response.

I like the Ti scales probably better than I would the CF version. My concerns on the scales and steel I guess were my sticking points. But if the blade rates with VG-10, that's fine with me. Looking like the Ti version will win out I'm thinking.

Question for Chaparral owners

I'm looking at picking up a Chaparral but cannot decide between the Ti scaled or the CF. I'm familiar with the S30v used in the CF, but not the steel used on the Ti model. Can someone tell me what it would rate similar to? Is is stainless? I was surprised to read in another post that the Super blue ...

Forum Doesn't Remember Me

Hi ~ Perhaps a dumb question, but for some reason when I log in, I check the remember box, but when I return later, I have to login again. For some reason, the site isn't remembering me. I belong to many other forums and do not have the same issue there, so perhaps I need to do something different, ...

Filled the screw holes

Hi ~ I recently purchased a Spur to try out as a pocket knife carry so I removed the clip. So far I am liking it in the pocket but I didn't like the empty screw holes from the pocket clip. So I dug up an old kraton clip from one of my Pro-Grips that I had previously replaced with a standard clip, an...

My favorite models are/were the Hunter and Pro-Grip, mainly the Hunter.

So...I have 5 Hunters in reserve and 4 Pro-Grips. And still I watch for Hunters. I just recently bought a Spur to try as a pocket knife so now I will need a couple of those for backups, as I'm liking it so far. :D

Kraton replacement

Hi ~ Lurk here pretty regular but don't post too often. Anyways, I have new Spur coming and am looking for a recommend for someone who may do replacement work for that kraton insert. Either with c/f, micarta, wood, something. I emailed Sante Fe Stoneworks to see if they do work like this and I did g...

Rich at Central Valley Wholesale sells an oil called Inox that I have switched over to for use with my knives. Food grade so that is not a problem, and it seems to work very well. :) Rich is a good guy and also a good source for Victorinox knives too. Hope this helps......Joe http://stores.ebay.com/...

Thanks for the responses. I will have to send it in and have them give the going over to get it back into shape. Fishwatcher~ I agree with you about the Hunter. I wish it was a model they would bring back with the newer steels. It works very well for what I need an edc for. When they started drying ...

Hunter blade reprofile.

Hi! I just received a vintage Hunter -my favorite model of all time btw :D - and it looks as though whomever had it before had sharpened it on whetstones and not that well at that. Anyway, the edge profile is all rounded and not right. Needs a new clip also. It is one of the old models with the non-...

Mr. Blonde~ OK......I see where I am confused. My sharpmaker is one I received from a friend a few years ago. It only has one set of holes for the stones. I looked at the catalog here at the new ones and see that they have two sets. So, on the older sharpmaker, are they 40 or 30 degrees? I will dig ...

Sharpmaker use question......

Hi~ Seen a few posts about the Sharpmaker and the talk of sharpening at different angles/degrees. Are they meaning when you are using the stones/rods (whatever you call them) on the flat side or the corners of the triangle? I guess I never thought about it, but do they sharpen a balde to different d...

Please forgive me as I know I'm on the the Spyderco site, but this knife used to be a Spyderco...... :) I agree with the above poster about the Mouse knife. I received the Mouse Lite as an Xmas present and I think for what he is looking for it may be a solution, and the price is very reasonable. My ...

The Hunter.......

Sure wish they would bring back the PE Hunter in the newer steels.

Also the PE Pro-Grip is another favorite. Would like one of those too without the Kraton. But thats just me. :)

Ron posts here as well...SC Rebel...something like that I think...anyways, his email would be sc_rebel1857@yahoo.com.

I'm looking forward to the Spur run also. I'm hoping they offer a PE version too besides just the combo edge.

take care...Joe

I've been carrying a ss pe Pro-Grip now for quite awhile and it is my favorite model along with the old Hunter version that I carry too. As mentioned by the others, I don't care for the Kraton insert on the clip either so I switched that out with a regular one. Problem solved. I recently sent one of...

Joyce.....could you please check with waaranty for me. I've left 3 messages and 2 emails but have not heard anything from Mike.
