Just got mine today and only opened/closed it around 50 times...still I guess, sluggish, for lack of a better word. This is my first Native so wasn't sure if the break I'm experiencing is just a Nativism. Thanks, all! I have 4 Native 5 knives. They are all that way. It is one of the reasons that I ...

I use that chart all of the time. Great stuff.
I just wonder where Komitadjie got those numbers for the grit ratings on the Spyderco ceramics? If Sal doesn't know... ??

Nice pics.. I found it real hard to get anything from the camera that looks like the color of the scales in person. Even to the eye, they change in color with lighting. You got closer than I did, but I find the scales on mine to be more grey, with just a hint of green. What did you use to sharpen it...

Speaking of which... is there a need, other than getting a mirror finish edge, to purchase the Spyderco UltraFine stones (white with red end stain, I think approx. 2500 grit)? I think it depends on what you want in an edge. If you are looking for edge refinement and surgical like slicing abilities,...

I just got my Mules and Forum Native today. I got the Native out of the box and immediately did some push cuts on some printer paper. It ripped and tore the paper and made ragged cuts. I tried it again on some tissue paper. Again, it caught and ripped the paper... I checked the edge with a loupe an...

depends on what you are sharpening with... At some point I wanted to ask Jim (Ankerson)(?) how he sharpens and measures thickness "behind the edge" I sharpened the ZDP-189 mule on my WEPS. It was similar to the below. I would have run out of patience doing it with water stones. Diamonds to...

The admins started a thread after only 23 minutes saying that this was a major factor in the slowdown. Apparently it was more than a "few" people, and they started very early in the process. "Please also avoid needlessly entering random/high quantities into a cart for either item to t...

Thanks for the welcome Sal. I have been registered here for awhile and reading the forums for quite awhile longer. I just don't type much. This will be my tenth set of mules. I try not to miss them, as I am a bit of a steel junkie.

Thank you for making them available!!

I got mine ordered. Took about 30 tries before the state/zip error went away.
How does one even check quantities. I have seen this mentioned before, especially with Mules, but I never have figured out how to do it.

Hi Phil, At the appropriate time when the item goes live you can search for it. 99% of our product is listed on our site by the model #. In this case the model # is C41GGR5 (the model # is the SKU without the "P", "PS" or "S" which notates edge configuration. You can a...

I wonder if any of you kind folks might help me out on exactly how the purchase will be done. I have bought several items from the online store, including most of the mules. But they were already there. So, would one search for the for knife model number until it shows up? Same with the new mule? An...

Very cool reading, and I definitely agree with them that optical microscopy is really limited by depth of field. I've tried to alleviate that (and I think it's actually done a decent job for being a computer-generated process) by using a multi-layer grab technique. I'd estimate that the computer to...
