Re: More Information On The GAUNTLET Sharpener yet??

Just saw BladeHQs video with Eric @ SHOT. The stones on the Gauntlet have an odd shape: part pointed, part elliptical. One nice thing about the Sharpmaker was the flats of the stones; one could stop short of having the tip slide off, which rounds it a little each time. That won't be possible on thi...

Re: Using the 701MF

This came in the mail yesterday! It's true! A new/unused in package 701MF Profile set. Where might I ask did you get those new 701 Profiles? They look to be in great condition. Are there any more available? Was there a dealer that still had a few left on their shelves? I was funny cause I was doing...

Re: Is your interest in sharpening on the same level as your interest in knives?

I don't love it but I don't have it either! I guess I may be more into it if I actually used my knives more than I do now. Since they don't see alot of use, they don't see alot of sharpening either but I do have a few options for sharpening here, both guided and free hand setups.

Re: Anticipation: For The GAUNTLET & GALLEY V kits??

@JD Spydo I often stopped after just the medium on a sak or mt as that makes it plenty sharp for my needs. I haven't carried a dedicated folder for some time now! I am not a steel guru or one that has to have the latest and greatest supersteel but I do know that my PM2 with 204p which probably isn't...

Re: Anticipation: For The GAUNTLET & GALLEY V kits??

I need to find the 701MF instructions in a PDF format! Anyone still have one? Thx. I truly wish that Sal or someone with Spyderco would do a comprehensive instructional video for all their sharpening tools. I'm including the 302 Benchstones, the Slipstone, the 701 Profiles and even the 400 series o...

Re: Using the 701MF

Does anyone have the instructions for this 701MF in PDF format? Thx. No and I never got any instructions even with the 3 brand new sets of 701 Profiles I've bought over the years. Not sure there even are any out there >> at least none that I'm aware of. I just pretty much learned to use the 701 PRo...

Re: Finally picked up a Goldenstone

When are the other grits of the Goldenstone suppose to come out? A medium one would be better than the fine for me! Of course, the Gauntlet would even be better! :) I've heard that there is already a CBN version of the GOLDENSTONE in the works as we speak. I did get Mr. Glesser's attention when I s...

Re: Anticipation: For The GAUNTLET & GALLEY V kits??

Still nothing yet, huh? Wow, this Gauntlet has been mentioned/discussed for quite some time now and it seems like it should have been out by now! What's up Spyderco? Any updated info? Well I'm just like you in wondering when ( if ever) we are going to finally get to test drive these new sharpening ...

Re: More Information On The GAUNTLET Sharpener yet??

Seems like it has been too quite regarding this Gauntlet. Not sure why or what's up with it.

It doesn't seem to be much of a priority or maybe too many knife projects on to give it enough attention to get it to production. An update and ETA would be great!

Re: Sharpening Spyderco's Exotic, Specialty Blades?

Yeah it is what is it, I guess! Heck, I have been trying to find out what constitutes a "factory second" regarding the single stones of the double stuff and can't seem to get an answer! I want to make sure there is any issue with the manufacturing/grit type makeup of these second hand stones as I se...

Re: question regarding factory seconds??

Has anyone picked up an "factory seconds" Double stuff stones??? I see they are separated which is no big deal but what would make them "seconds"? Bad manufacturing/molding? Discolored? or what? I am afraid to get one that is not up to par, stone grit wise to do its job like a normal stock one! I a...
