Re: Para 3 lightweight washer

Did you sand down the frn a bit on the original non-washer side?

Yes. Whatever flavor, I am in.
Micarta or polished g10 might be nice.

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient

I am partial to Taiwan, and would gladly pay more for better materials. Most of my favorites, other than the para3, are from Taiwan (Watu, Kapara, Proficient, Ikuchi). That said - I recently picked up a spalted maple bushcraft in O1. Not as "nice" as the s90v on my proficient - but in my l...

Re: UKPK Magnacut?

This would be a must buy - and likely multiples.
Also a nice opportunity to try a new frn color. While I always love another shade of blue - maybe an OD green? Or tan?

Re: Sharing a recent project - chopped Kapara

Generally I am more into knives of the original Kapara size, but your "chopped" version looks just perfectly proportioned and as if it would still offer a good amount of cutting edge - could you share the blade length and cutting edge length? It measures exactly 7 inches open now. Blade l...

Re: Sharing a recent project - chopped Kapara

Looks like there are only two holes for the clip, presumably because the skeletonized liners didn't have material there for the third one. While I like the particular clip that you have chosen, I would suggest ordering one of the MXG two hole clips and call that intentional. ;) Exactly right. I lik...

That Koa looks great. I'm a sucker for wood handled knives.
Hope I'm not being a bother but could you also post a photo from the top and bottom?
Not sure this is what you are looking for?

Re: Sharing a recent project - chopped Kapara

Very clean job, my hat is off. Thank you - I somehow managed to scratch the blade early on. Seen in some of the pics, roughly parallel to the spine. This is another reason I would consider making it a bit pointier. But that would be grinding A LOT of steel off the spine. I already took a lot off to...

Mind showing an "in-hand" shot for perspective?
like this? Or did you want it next to another knife for size comparison?

Hi foofie, do yours all have dragonfly clips on them? The clips seem shorter than normal.
Yes, good eye. It fits a bit better in my hands.

Very nicely done work !
Hope you'll get pride and joy using your very own Lil'Kapara ^^
Thanks. More like impatience - got tired of waiting on the next Alistair Phillips release :winking-tongue. That cannot come soon enough.

Sharing a recent project - chopped Kapara

Recently (finally) found a nice Kapara - thanks @jupaul! I had a first release Kapara, but it was too long for me and traded it off. It's one that I kept thinking about... So I jumped at the chance to get another Kapara, already with my preferred micarta scales. And 20cv for my inner steel snob ;) I...

Re: UKPK Aftermarket Scales

Sharing some of mine. These scales are all from Cuscadi - Hawaiian Koa, blue denim/rag micarta, and canvas micarta. I did modify the scales a bit - sanded contours, sanded the koa to make the grain more visible. Back when I had them made, Cuscadi was the only game in town. Very excited to see more m...

Re: Urban size discussion

I love the UKPK, even though I have no restrictions. I would also get the metropolitan in a heart beat. What I wonder - would the metropolitan canabalize sales of the urban (that is 2.5in)? Besides very few locales like Boston, there would not be much reason to get the urban over the metropolitan. A...

Re: Para 3 LW Coffin

I am just the opposite. I have bought many of the g10 versions, and placed the blades into the LW frame. The weight, the contouring, and the clip make the LW just about perfect for me.
I think the g10 is more popular - but there are enough odd balls like me that actually seek out the LW.

Re: Para 3 Lightweight Modifications/After Market Parts

There is a seller on Etsy named carbowood. I have no idea what is the quality- but he does make para 3 LW scales in micarta and wood.
I thought the same as nerdlock up above, until I saw them on Etsy.

Re: Sharpening service with aftermarket scales?

...I'm looking to put some aftermarket CF scales on it, as I am finding the g1 to be far too rough a texture for my tastes. If the roughness is the main issue - you could also take a higher grit sandpaper to the scales and smooth them a bit? Very lightly at 220? Or even start at 400? I personally l...

Re: Para 3 LW poor scale grip vs D4

I have no doubt that some find the Para 3 LW scales a bit less secure than the D4. Just wanted to add a different opinion, for someone who might stumble upon this thread. The Para3 LW scales are so well contoured that this is now my favorite platform. I have stopped buying the regular para 3 (well, ...

Re: Para 3 and Para 3LW Blade swap?

I have personally swapped into the LW frame: maxamet, s110v, rex45, m390. The latter two were in the days before the LW versions came out. They all worked fine both ways.
