Re: Polishing Lil’ Native G10 scales?

Very nice! I have tried this, but did not use the flat pan/full sheet of sand paper. As a result, I think my sanding was not consistent across the slab scale. When I would go up to a higher grit - some areas would polish well and others would not. Kinda splotchy. I would re-sand and work my way back...

Re: SFO virtual tour - please!

Thank you for taking us along for the tour. I especially enjoyed the commentary on big knives :D

If I ever make it there, I might get bounced half-way through by asking to handle every single knife/variant :o

Re: If you can only have one Delica...

I only have one - hap40 wharnie.
My next - the k390 wharnie. I may cave and get the regular k390 before then...

Just think - one quick and easy way to narrow the choice down considerably is to go with the wharncliffe version

Very nicely done. That makes me think that the Watu should be released in M4 as the first sprint...

Sooo... this might be possible. But I think you would need to specify which Christmas? 2021 or 2022? :p

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient

The Proficient is one of two fixed blade I will never part with - the other being a Phil Wilson custom. The handle is that good. I also love micarta, and would have purchased the crucarta version regardless of the cost. That said - it is the handle than is the key to the design. If it can be reprodu...

Re: Urban/UKPK Wharncliffe

Yes, yes and yes please! The urban can obviously be made with a wharncliffe. The orange g10 sheepsfoot ukpk shows that the ukpk handle can also accomodate a wharncliffe blade without any change. Two easier options I see - an exclusive/sprint, or regular production. - If regular production, I would h...

I like the chamfering around the three small holes. Very nice detail.

Have you dropped yours yet? I have a few small 'character' bites around the edge of mine.
Thankfully, no I haven't dropped it. I have dropped g10 and frn with scuffs and bites. I guess with wood, you could see some splitting? Or a chunk might break free by a screw hole close to the edge?

Re: Watu - aftermarket scales?

Maybe Knifecenter will order an exclusive with the pakkawood. After all the beautiful koa and walnut, pakkawood would be such a letdown ;) Seriously though - not a bad idea. Wood, without any of the durability concerns. I will add that I have been carrying mine almost every day, and no concerns wit...

Re: Watu - aftermarket scales?

I wish I could have taken these in natural light, but it's been downpouring here all day today. As you can see, depending on the angle you look at the scales, the appearance really tends to vary. But, like I said...I think I like that unique trait, it's like a hologram. These are beautiful. Differe...

Re: Wharncliffe's

There’s never been a UKPK Wharncliffe, only the orange G10 Urban... Thanks for the correction. I have seen photos of the orange Sheepsfoot ukpk and the orange wharncliffe Urban, and kinda of combined them in my head. I would still like a chance at a sheepsfoot ukpk though :D And since this thread i...

Re: Wharncliffe's

I think I have shared this pic before - shows my love for wharncliffe's. A couple things to add - part of why they work so well (for me) is the tip is lower due to lack of a belly. When cutting with the tip, this almost automatically simulates a negative blade angle which I prefer. As a result, almo...

Re: Watu - aftermarket scales?

Very disappointed, they look nothing like everyone elses Koa scales. Mine vary from lighter to darker with prominent, almost white colored streaks in between colors. Pics? This is definitely a bummer. With the Pakkawood delica, there was all sorts of grain variation. With natural wood, the variatio...

Re: Collection Limiting Rules

I try to avoid rules - but realized I have an odd/irrational one I follow. A few years back, the BM 940-1 came out. At that time, I thought it was the perfect knife for a bunch of reasons (steel, design, scale material, clip). I haven't carried one in more than a few years, but that knife came in at...

Re: I tried so hard...

Watu for sure. Maybe even hope he doesn't like it...
Another option that is harder to come by - Air. I don't know if he needs a clip - but he won't feel a thing when it is dropped in the pocket. And the blade shape will be comfortable and familiar.

Moral of the story: make the best with what you have available. And get a Military, if you don't have one :)
I may have misread the whole story. To me, the moral of the story is get at least five Militaries to make everything work... :D
