Thanks for the great review, David. You certainly covered a lot of small details that others wouldn't have bothered with. It's a beautiful knife that just doesn't receive enough attention within the Spyderco catalog.
ATR. I love the all-metal construction, compression lock, and hooded thumb ramp. I wish this one would come back as a sprint. Slap some G10 scales on and market it as a work knife; or add an FFG blade....(sigh). :o
Welcome to forum Elliot. Honeslty, you can't go wrong with any of those Spydies: each one is a great knife in its own right. If you're into collecting I would suggest a Para Mil 2 sprint/exclusive with a different steel. Chipped Karambit is correct that the SuperLeaf is being discontinued for 2013. ...
Regarding UKPK: I know in the past Sal has been very sensitive to the needs of Europeans with the strict knife laws they face. Is Spyderco just refreshing the UKPK line with new colors/materials as Paul (The Deacon) suggested as a possibility, or could Spyderco be discontinuing this model to expand ...
I asked Sal about the Foundry back in March right after the Amsterdam show.....here was the response (sorry for the bad cut and paste job): Originally Posted by Prospero the Carpenter/Foundry model. 1. I think the PM2 is probably one of the best "all-around" Spyderco models.
^^^ This sums it up succintly. The Navaja is an interesting design, but I don't think it's the kind of knife you'd carry around daily or use for most tasks.
My orange CTS-XHP PM2. Too hard to replace (going rates almost double what I paid).....also, don't want to get that beautiful orange G10 dirty!!! (No qualms about using the "brown" one, though... :D
Very nice, beatlman! I'm tempted to try that myself using a different color scale. Did the final knife require any modifications or special work, or did the blade just "drop in?"
Hi. I was wondering: on the newer fluted Ti Military models with the steel insert, is it normal for the lock bar to bow outward away from the blade when the knife is closed (rather than remain flush with the scale)? On the older models without the insert the lock bar is flush with the scale when the...
I carried my Delica 4 to work last night. I really appreciate the ergos on this knife: opening the knife is almost instinctual, no fumbling around to get the correct purchase on a thumb stud. My hand just feels "locked in" to the grip when I'm cutting. Great design.
Welcome to the forums, fliktrik. Just wait 'til you discover sprint runs: you'll expend your discretionary budget for the next decade! And the worst part is you can never feel truly "satisfied" cuz there's always something newer/better on the production schedule....
Best wishes.
