I personally love the comp lock, and I would even like to see it used in a Military-type folder. I find that the lock is easy to use, and I appreciate the added level of safety that the lock gives to a folder. The only small issue that I have is that the position of the lock on the top of the handle...

The Sad State of Fakes on eBay - a Treatise

I have had a very busy few months, and after I get back to watching the 'bay for good deals on OOP models, something struck me as very disheartening: the level of fakes has grown steadily these past few months, and this is not a good sign . I know that I haven't been free to watch the auctions consi...

I had a great opportunity this summer to use the South Fork for extended periods of time, and I have to say that you are basically getting a custom knife for a fraction of the cost. Add in Spyderco's great quality control and warranty, and you have one winner-of-a-blade. This was one of my first pro...

My large Sebenza 21 is in S30V, so I cannot do a direct comparison, but I have used S35VN in the Sprint Para2. My experience with S35VN has been positive: it "feels" just like S30V during use, but I have not had to fully sharpen the blade yet - only a few touch-ups on the strop, so I canno...

This is a sad sign of the state of the Republic. I just purchased the 3x216 Signature Set and the x36 Bar sets. I remember using similar plastic model kits in organic chemistry at university. We used to take about 10 sets and combine them into huge objects d'arte and mega-compounds. Lots of fun and ...

I followed up with the seller earlier this month before I went away on vacation: I never received a response, but it seems that he has pulled all of his items and has none currently for sale. It is a mystery how a scammer can have a 100% positive feedback score, but I guess that people just don't re...

Wow, this seller went so far as to change the title to state that it is made in China. That alone violates the 'bay's counterfeit policy. The current listing has ended, but I will be on the look-out for this known fake. Another seller to add to the scammer list...

It you try your original link now, it has moved to another cheap, Chinese fake. This seller has been flooding the Spyderco listings with known fakes: I have reported him as a scammer, but I have little faith that he will be disciplined. (Saying he is in Canada could complicate things, especially sin...

I caught both of these as well - there have been a lot of fakes on the 'bay lately. Both auctions appear to have been ended: let's hope that this is a good sign that our hard work is slowly paying off.

We need to keep up the good work and be ever vigilant! :D

I would definitely enjoy an ELMAX Para2. Over the past six months, I have become familiar with using and caring for ELMAX through the Spyderco Mule program and the awesome ZT 0551 and 0560, and I enjoy using this steel very much. I my opinion, it is not as good as M390 (my favorite new "super-s...
