not bashing Benchmade at all. In fact, I probably own just as many BM models as I do Spyderco. I merely said that the Ascent/Eclipse model, IMHO, sucked -- especially when compared to the quality one would find in the Endura, a comparably priced knife.

BTTT...

Just got my Gunting and drone in the mail from Linda today. For those of you who haven't done business with her, I highly recommend!!!!!

Better go buy some bandaids... Gotta practice the kinetic opening on my thigh

Buy an Endura instead. Approximately the same price with a 10x increase in quality.

Ascent was the first BM knife I bought, and it was flimsy crap.

Gunting Deals?

Does anyone know of a place which has a deal for buying both the Gunting trainer and live blade at the same time?

Dijos,

A Master At Arms is a term you would be more likely to find in the Western schools of weaponry and combat. Much like a Sifu, Sensei, Sahbumnim, Guro, etc.

You may find it interesting to learn that in the UK, a Boy Scout can get his Master At Arms Merit badge (http://www.scoutbase.org.uk ...

Bram,

I don't think anyone here is disputing that. But Sometimes, you have to take the law, and the enforcement of said laws into mind. If they say 2+ inches is a deadly weapon, it doesn't matter what people with crippled hands think.

Liko,

You gotta play smart. That's for sure. Despite the fact that the Gunting is a good knife for utility, there will always be people and legislators who think that any knife is a bad knife. Plus you have the "in the know" factor playing: the cops who own Guntings know that its a MBC knife.

Great article Mr. Janich.

Sjamboks in the umbrella stand make for good "ready" weapons when placed by the door.

I tend to subscribe to the keeping weapons around the house as well, after visiting a martial arts master who kept a few expandable batons on bookshelves, nice knives in the kitchen ...

Do your carry options change with the season?

Here in Ohio, it tends to get cold enough in the winter that one tends to re-evaluate their clothing options. Big coats, gloves, etc.

I have realized that the usual blade clipped to the pocket isn't as accessible when you've got gloves and a 3/4 length coat on. Gloves are necessary for me (I walk ...
