It's different from the usual Spydie. (Not that that's bad.) But it does fill a niche that is new and different. Got to get one.

Just a comment since I haven't seen it. Have washed your triangles? I use a sponge and Comet (or similar) and the result is a like new finish. FWIW

The Caly3 really lights my fire as an EDC.

3 - regular
2 - carbon fiber
1 - Damascus carbon fiber

Kind of went crazy, huh, just love that design. And they all say SAL on the blade.....

I like that it's made in Taiwan (I'd like it better if it was USA, but thats a Spyderco decision). Like it's machining, very trick. I lake its function. Very slick and fitting for a knife like this one. As to the price, I guess that $319 is a bit much, but I went for it anyway. It has satisfied me i...

The Caly3 is my favorite of all the Spydercos. (And I have many.) The reasons are many, but the primary ones are ease of carry, concealed carry, (I go some places that would not consider a knife carrier friendly), and the ease of sharpening. I do open boxes regularly and use it for a host of other i...

I've had a serrated model from the beginning two decades ago. I bought mine at the Great Western Show here in Denver. it is serrated and I've learned how to sharpen it so I don't lose the serrations. Cuts bread very cleanly (although I have the Spyderco bread knife for big jobs), and I have since ac...

For a folder the original Manix is my choice as the toughest. In the fixed blade I am very partial to the original Ed Schemp Rock Salt in H1 steel. Unfortunately both of these knives are discontinued. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I wish Spyderco could see their way to bring these out a...

I saw this coming so I ordered a couple extra, just in case. They are in the safe now. The theory being that you cannot predict what the business needs will result in. I too believe that the original Caly3 VG10 is the finest daily carry knife ever invented. So be it.

I agree with JD Spydo. Start with a Sharpmaker and continue to touch up edges. I really love the edge that my Wicked Edge puts on a knife. And it can take on a knife that's been totally neglected and bring it back to life in 15 minutes. (How long it will stay that way depends on the steel, of course...

Thanks very much for the suggestion Tony. I got to thinking on the subject, and a breakaway lanyard seems like a good idea, just in case I get thrown around inside the car. In that case, I would want a color that I could find, such as orange red or pink. Fox 40 sells through Amazon. FWIW

The Schemp Rock is a very nice knife. I've had it out in the woods camping, and it did everything I asked of it. Especially like the reverse curve, it works well for cutting up kindling and such for a fire.

Not a Kind Word to be Had

It is really a shame for someone to claim to be someone he isn't, especially when he claims to be a service man or woman. There is no excuse for that. At all. Thank you Kristi for keeping all of us informed.

A Merry Christmas to every one on this forum.
