Re: NYC's Village Voice Slams 60,000 Gravity Knife Prosecuti

I am wondering, how much of the resources of the DA's office have been spent with 60,000 prosecutions? Do the people of Manhattan really think this is a good application of the tax dollars they contribute to the office? Are they spending an excessive price for the DA's office to be overstaffed in or...

Re: Snow Shovel recommendations?

Don't know the shape your back is in, but I prefer the 'ergonomic' style of shovel. The other thing I highly recommend is a D handle, it saves effort when throwing the snow any distance.

Re: Sharpmaker

I want to agree whole-heartedly with Sharpmaker. Get a sacrificial, cheap knife to practice on. Do no start with an expensive one (I am speaking from experience.) Then, once you get the hang of it, be patient, the higher grade steels will sharpen the same way, just slower.

Re: ideas for release clip for dogtag on necklace?

Go to AMAZON and ask for "Quick release neck lanyard". A whole bunch of them there. Bound to be one (or many) that will do the job exactly as you want.

Re: What are the "hard-use" spyderco FOLDERS?

I pretty much agree with restivo. My favorites are the original Manix (C95), the Bradley (CF134CF), or my new Yojimbo2 (CF85GP2). The last is new and I am very pleased with Its wharncliffe edge and compression lock. Excellent for heavy duty carving as well as the other tasks mentioned.

I'm with you Tony. No sense advertising. I've been a life member since the late '70s. Is the price really $1,000? Sticker shock....

C03 Hunter. Got it at the Great Western Stock Show here in Denver in 84 or 85. At a booth manned by Spyderco personnel. Who was there? Beats me. Could have been Sal himself or another of his minions. I didn't recognize them, just the knife. I was interested in and collecting knives with strange/diff...

Depends what you're hunting. It will do an elk, but I'd be afraid the fit might suffer and would work carefully. Doubt it would replace a decent fixed blade. Other than than, it is a wonderful knife.

I love mine. When I heard they were being discontinued, I bought an extra back and two of the damascus versions. Do not have any other duplicates.

Voted for edge strength because I have found that it works. When butchering an elk, it's hard not to run into a bone no and then. I have discovered that the edge stays on the knife a bit longer and stays sharp even though I sometimes have a boo-boo slicing.

Never saw that before and I've been collecting since shortly after the beginning of time. (Time starts with the first production of Spydercos). I've never seen the likes of that. I certainly would get one if the company was to produce them again. (Listening Sal?)

My first was a C03 in late 90's. I was looking for knives with novel opening methods, ran into the SYDERCO display at the Great Western Stock Show. The rest is history. Not a regret yet. (Except for the wife, but she doesn't know how much I've spent.)

Sig 220 .45, Sig220 9mm, 290 9mm, Sig 220 (marked as a Browning) 9mm.

Of all of these I prefer the .45.
