Re: Bad Customer Service

I once spent $150,000,000 on a Spyderco, and it was awful. It caught fire and melted in my hand, and I lost my right arm. I sent it to Spyderco, and they melted it down and mailed it back to me with a note that said "F*** Y***!!!". I cried and cried and this is my last breath. I swear once...

Re: Back lock Paramilitary?

Jazz, If you look at Lance' HAP40 Stretch pictures, a Stretch is actually a lockback Para 2. I can't seem to search it, but remember seeing it. :o Edit: //forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=73065 Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but the Stretch is not just a PM2 with a back-lock. There are ...

Re: Experiences with detent wear?

Just one more thing to dislike about the ubiquitous liner/frame locks. Agreed. It is a long list, isn't it? A weak detent is obviously bad, but a ridiculously strong detent resulted in a nasty cut for me a couple years ago, and nearly again just the other day with a PM2. I can't tell you how much I...

Re: Para3 in S110V ETA ?

Thanks. I've had a few Native 5s. Not a big fan of the partially-obscured thumb hole. I actually already have the 2015 Forum Knife which is a Native 5 in S90V. I haven't used it in so long I forgot I had it. And it took me even longer to remember my Native 5 with CF and S110V, which is essentially a...

Re: Para3 in S110V ETA ?

I've been out of the Spyderco loop for quite awhile, but the Para 3 in S110V is one that I would definitely buy. This is an itch I've needed scratched for a long time: A 3" blade in a top-tier steel, on a format I like, so I can venture into Charlotte without breaking any idiotic laws.

Re: Edge grinds are way off on para 2- what to do?

I've had a couple Golden knives that had really bad grinds. One was bad enough at the tip that the length was measurably affected. I returned both. I don't expect perfection--it doesn't exist--and I actually appreciate the insignificant imperfections that represent the work of a skilled human hand (...

Re: The PERFECT EDC knife is...

I don't like small knives. Most of what I need a knife for is breaking down boxes, and I don't like using any blade less than 3.25" for that. Did you ever tried a boxcutter? I recently did. I had to open about 80+ boxes within one day. It works like a charm. Thin blades rule. Yes, and they're ...

Re: The PERFECT EDC knife is...

I don't like small knives. Most of what I need a knife for is breaking down boxes, and I don't like using any blade less than 3.25" for that. If you stay with blades that length and beyond but still care about weight, the list of options is rather short. So, an FRN Stretch is where it's at for ...

Re: 5,000th post Giveaway !!!

I'm in. I'm resisting the urge to choose 666 as my number. I will go with 517. No idea why. I really enjoy TIME OFF, which for me is starting NOW. Normally I would have stated that I enjoy my family, but with a teenager who now despises me, that's gone out the window. Sad but true. (No need to rub m...

Re: Not sharp out of the box

Receiving a new knife that is dull is the basis for a legitimate complaint. I have received a couple Spyderdos that were relatively dull out of the box. All were of Golden origin. One in particular had a pretty bad grind screwup as well, with the tip being really poorly done and overground on one si...

Re: Tenacious rusting :(

I no longer have a Tenacious (I hate the thumb-cutter lock on that one), but I have had them before and have a Resilience (same steel) that gets regular use, usually outdoors. Never seen a spot of corrosion on any of them, and I don't oil the blades at all, ever. I do the opposite, actually--I wipe ...

Re: Which Steels would you call non-stainless

So, the goal is to choose a steel that stains and corrodes easily? I must be missing something. I do tend to put a high value on corrosion resistance, but you will never see me asking for help choosing steels that have poor edge retention, or that chip easily. I'm wondering why you don't just seek o...

Ketel One and Smirnoff red. No pics because it simply does not matter how it looks. That, and knives and liquor really are not a sensible mixture in the universe I currently find myself in.

Re: How would you respond to this?

Some of the responses to this thread are more ridiculous than the person alluded to by the OP (whose existence is highly questionable). I love the mentions of "God" and so forth, for example. Like you can throw that out there, without basis, and automatically be more sane and right than so...

Re: 2016 Discontinued List

After some research, I decided it's a Stretch 2. The original Stretch was stainless with a Kraton inlay. The lightweight was THE SAME pattern as the original. The Brown G-10 version was a DIFFERENT PATTERN and is thus the "2". The new lightweight is the SAME PATTERN as the Brown G-10 vers...
