I'm an electrician of about 20 yeas exp now and would say a plain edge drop point or wharncliff shape will work very well and be much easier to keep sharp. but I never strip wire with the point , always peel it like an apple.
ffg delica or kiwi are what I'm carrying now.

+1 for fordom I have used one daily for many years with no problems the torque and smooth bearings are FAR better than the ever cheapening dremel take your problem one apart and you will see where the bearings have heated and distorted the plastic, after that happens the bearings can get canted and ...

hss is better than carbide ,
keep tools VERY sharp,
slow speeds heavy feeds
if you let the tool rub and not cut it will work harden and be like cutting glass

thanks I use chisels
these have an average of around 8 hours in cutting and at least that long drawing the designs, doesn't sound like much until you figure between work wife and kids I only get about 2 hours a day to work on engraving
